Ok im late I know, The Wire

Yeah I got Season 3 too. Got me thinking of season rankings, since they added their opinion in the article.

They're all so good, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some great episodes when thinking of this, but:

    Best to worst: 3, 4, 1, 2, 5

I really wanted to put 1 higher since it really hooked you in to the rest of the series, but the stuff with the kids was so powerful and Season 3 was just overall a masterpiece.

I grew to appreciate 2 a lot more after rewatching. 5 is the one season that doesn't stand with the rest IMO.
    NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
    NFL - Buffalo Bills
    MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I need to go through the series again. I actually popped disc 1 of season 1 in the other night and watched the first episode. Its amazing how tight the show starts off. And the "oh snap" moments would barely make ripples in other dramas.

The Wire on Blu-ray or on Amazon prime makes it even more enjoyable to watch. The quality is very good

So, now I need to rewatch the whole series again. Was gonna do Game of Thrones ahead of season 7, but nah. Thanks PPM.

I'd say upon re-watching 2 is slightly better than 5. The simple fact that I the majority of season 5 was spent on completely unbelievable lies weakens its strength today.

                  ALL THE PIECES MATTER

The definitive oral history of the iconic and beloved TV show The Wire, as told by the actors, writers, directors, and others involved in its creation

Since its final episode aired in 2008, HBO’s acclaimed crime drama The Wire has only become more popular and influential. The issues it tackled, from the failures of the drug war and criminal justice system to systemic bias in law enforcement and other social institutions, have become more urgent and central to the national conversation. The show’s actors, such as Idris Elba, Dominic West, and Michael B. Jordan, have gone on to become major stars. Its creators and writers, including David Simon and Richard Price, have developed dedicated cult followings of their own. Universities use the show to teach everything from film theory to criminal justice to sociology. Politicians and activists reference it when discussing policy. When critics compile lists of the Greatest TV Shows of All Time, The Wire routinely takes the top spot. It is arguably one of the great works of art America has produced in the 20th century.

But while there has been a great deal of critical analysis of the show and its themes, until now there has never been a definitive, behind-the-scenes take on how it came to be made. With unparalleled access to all the key actors and writers involved in its creation, Jonathan Abrams tells the astonishing, compelling, and complete account of The Wire, from its inception and creation through its end and powerful legacy.

Went back and watched S1 and it reminded me how much I always liked Bey’s scenes. His reactions in the last episode of S1 when he was copping to all those murders were hilarious.

Another thing I found funny was when they went out of town to Philly yet you’d still see Baltimore style street signs and signs for Camden Yards, lol.

So this is pretty cool. Guy remakes food from popular shows. He covered some food from The Wire.

I remember hearing a conversation about it. At the time, they didn't have permission to alter the signs for that shot. Some small dispute about which union would get the work. City workers wanted the work, put the guys on the production staff felt they should get it, so they left it alone.

I've watched through The Wire 5-6 times, easily my favorite TV show of all time. It's been a few years so I definitely need to roll through it again. If I had to rank the seasons, I think I'd go 4-1-3-2-5. Season 1 is so damn good when you go through it a 2nd time. I also don't put season 2 that far behind 3. I know season 2 doesn't get too much love, but I really like that season. Frank Sabotka is awesome.
