Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
The Curren$y and Black Thought/9th Wonder EP's both have enough bangers to counterbalance Kanye's (now derivative) schtick.
His "album" isn't bad, but it feels too sonically similar to The Life of Pablo for my taste. We'll see how the Nas album goes, although if it is anything like Poppa Was Playa (I think he produced that joint) or Still Dreamin' then I'm good.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
So with this decade of hip-hop coming to a close relatively soon, where do you guys rank it compared to the 90s and 00s?
I'm starting to realize how much music tastes has to do with associating certain periods of your life and being 31 now, I definitely don't seek out the kinds of songs I was listening to in the 00s. When I've tried, I just haven't been able to get into anything probably since 2012-14. I'm just not down with the "mumble rap" and am meh on Drake.
With that said, I think I'd rank it:
- 00s
- 90s
- 10s
I'm sure my ranking is reflective of my age and my adolescence/early 20s being in the late 90s-mid 00s, but I'm curious on how others would rank them. I love the best of the 90s and would maybe even rank the best (Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z) over the best of the 00s, but I have a wider-range of 00s songs on my playlists than 90s.
90's
00's
10's
There's some good music that's come out in the last month or so, Royce, Black Thought, Pusha, Roc Marciano

Update on the Pusha T/Drake beef: What did I say about the industry protecting Drake? Now, J. Prince is claiming that Drake has that "Ether" on deck but he won't let Drake push the button cause it'll "ruin" the careers of Push & 'Ye.....
Come on, if that off the wall **** 'Ye said a few weeks ago did no harm then whatever Drake has up his sleeve probably won't.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Ain’t gonna be no response from Drake because J.Prince said it’s done.
And when Prince says something is done, it’s done.#RespectTheCultureComment

Drake has nothing to comeback with, so hide behind Prince (claiming Drake does have "Ether," sureee) & 'Ye saying to end the back - and - forth.

The DEHH crew is back at it again with the reviews.
Here's their review of Kanye West's EP (I'm gonna be honest. If a project have 5-7 tracks (Minus Skits) in it, it's an EP) "Ye".

Apparently Wayne and Birdman settled out of court for $10 mil so there's nothing holding back The Carter V anymore...
I don't know how to feel. Wayne is and will always be my favorite, but I don't know what to expect from this.
And in Evel Kanyeevel's world,

Kanye sounds much better on Kids See Ghosts than he did on his own project. My guy Cudi with the clutch hums, Reborn is great. Another Push verse as well on the first song, I'm sick of uncredited features man, making me chase down album credits, who do I look like? Even the song titles were wrong at first.
I consider R&B to be under the umbrella of hip-hop so...
Jorja's new album yesterday. Listen to it because she sounds like this:

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Waited all day for this Nas tape...finally hits last night. Listening to it first thing this morning and this man is spitting alternative facts on the first song, I don't know what to do. It's weird because he's dispelling myths in most bars, and then propping them up in others. It's too early for this. Love Diddy though.
Slick Rick sample is great on the second song. Don't feel the same about the sample on White Label, just too busy at times. Dream and Nas sound great on Everything, I wish Kanye wasn't on it. Adam and Eve is dope.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Sad news in the Hip-Hop/rap world, fellas:
Police have not made any arrests or established a motive for the death of the 20-year-old Florida rapper, who was pronounced dead Monday after being shot outside a motorcycle dealership.
Sad to see another young, talented artist gunned down in cold blood. The art form has seen way, way too much of this bull****, man.
My condolences to his family and friends.....
