Would the 'Nothing on you' success be bigger commercially than any of Lupe's single's released in the US?

I'm not from the US so i don't know how big Lupe "blew up" on the mainstream charts?

Look at their discographys on Wikipedia. The only thing resembling a hit single from Lupe was "Superstar" (which peaked at #10 in the U.S.). "Kick, Push" shocked me, only peaking at #78. "Nothin on You" and "Airplanes" peaked at #1 and #7 respectively.

B.o.B. is already bigger than Lupe Fiasco, but I'll take Lupe 10 days out of 10. He's a better artist and MC in my opinion. I don't think the latter is even debatable.

Yeah i def prefer Lupe as well, those numbers are surprisingly low for Lupe. I wonder if he is pissed that he didn't end up doing the track?

Oh, Game....

The good folks over at Complex got a chance to preview Game’s R.E.D. and one particular track review caught my eye. Don’t let the title scare ya.

“Mother’s Womb” f/ Nelly Furtado

Complex says: The title’s kind of gross, right? Doesn’t sound so hot, either. Game waxes poetic about all the gangsta **** he’s been up to since he’s left his mother’s womb. What better way to do that than have Nelly Furtado ride shotgun? FOH. Skateboard P brings those Neptunes key patterns that sound like a throwback to his early chart-toppers, which is both a good and bad thing. The mix we heard was rough, but Furtado’s vocals sounded good.

Just in time for Sunday. Way to go, Chuck!

Doesn't sound like it's going to be as good as the first 3 albums but I guess we'll have to wait and hear it for ourselves. Also sounds like Pharrell did most of the production on the album and not Dre, like I thought it was supposed to be.

BTW, the album got pushed back again (surprise, surprise) to June 29th. 2 weeks after Drizzy's album instead of releasing on the same day, which is probably the smart move for Game.

Nothin' On You got Bobby Ray enough hype to make Adventures the #1 album in the country. The song isn't great compared to everything else he makes but it's catchy as hell and gets mad radio play.

He still only sold like 80,000 albums though. Guys like Rick Ross and Gucci Mane push 100,000 without hit singles. Not quite sure how that makes sense.

Just saw Lupe in concert. Last date of the Steppin Laser tour! He was already my favorite rapper, but dude just took it to a whole new level.

Man, it was insane. It was my first concert, and it doesn't get any better. Lupe was on fire and just crazy energetic with his stuff. Every song he performed the whole crowd was just going wild. B.o.B was pretty awesome too. Thought he was just gonna perform his album stuff, but he threw in plenty of his older stuff, like Generation Lost, I'll Be in the Sky, No Mans Land. Beautiful. Hell, even that dude Dosage was pretty good. He did fall HELLA hard though. Not sure if that was staged or not, but dude hit the floor really hard.

All in all, amazing concert. Just epic. It's my birthday today too, so it was a great way to kick off the celebration

That's just the nature of the game. That's how it's been for 15-20 years. It may be whack but there's nothing you can do. Especially when Atlantic is treating him they way they are.

I'm so excited for Hip Hop again, it's unreal. I need to make some room on my I-Pod (16 GB nano), because it's full and there's so much music that's out or about to come out that I'm looking forward to.

Bone flopped, and it appears the new Game album (which I was anticipating) may go the same route.

Recovery seems like it's going to be Em's best album yet so I'm really excited for that (as well as the Slaughter getting signed by Shady Aftermath), and of course there's Lasers (Lupe really can't miss with me). I've been bumping Adventures of Bobby Ray religiously but have two new albums to add to my current rotation.



I'm a big fan of theirs. I listened to the album once (sort of in the background while doing other stuff). Nothing really stood out to me. I think Double O is the real talent of the group (his production). I'll have to give it another spin though before deciding what stays on the I-Pod.

And of course an album I've been anticipating like crazy.



Three tracks in, and I'm already thinking Grammy for these two. This is just epic music right here. Nas is as on-point as ever, and Damian's production is top notch. Unbelievable chemistry. If anyone is a fan of music (not just hip hop) they have to at least check it out. I'm sure I'll report on it more when I listen to it completely, but I'm just happy to have some good new music (with more on the horizon).
