Metro blessing us this week with the comeback. 21 and Thug stole the show. Up to Something leaked unfinished like 3 or 4 years ago so I'm glad that's finally out. 10 Freaky Girls is the one. I swear I was about to turn Don't Come Out the House off because of the whispering and then 21 killed me with "Yall must thought that I was gon whisper the whole time" lol one of the better laughs I've had from music this year. He's got such a great delivery, and Metro always gives him something in his zone. Not usually a Kodak fan outside of No Flockin but No More is dope. All this Travis, Metro did right by me. This, Fetti, and Vince all in the same week? Haven't heard FM yet but Vince never lets me down, gotta check out Takeoff's tape. Interested to see the numbers there, crazy people talking like he's the best Migo while Offset is still here smh.

Because he is the best(as far as lyrics go, which is funny that I’m bringing up lyrics when talking about Migos).#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
This tape will definitely be his chance to show it. I feel like he's the last verse on a lot of the Migos songs that I like and since none of them really say anything I get bored after 3 minutes and cut his verse off lol. There are songs where I've singled out Quavo's part, Offset's part (Too Hotty, No Complaints) but I don't think I can think of a single Takeoff bar off the top of my head.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
True.
Quavo is the more recognizable one of the group as far as flow and catchy hooks and Offset pretty much blew up just from saying his name at the beginning of Bad and Bougie, lol.
Takeoff has always been the low key one of the group, but has also been known as the most talented one of the 3.

It's been a pretty good weekend for hip hop, but I will say this new H.E.R. EP has gotten more spins from me than anything.
Also, the Joell Ortiz and Apollo Brown album is very good.[NYK|DAL|VT]

I love her voice so much, and her beat selection is always so soothing. I wasn't ready for Lord is Coming, it's really haunting. I could see the hook in the trailer for a movie about the 60's riots. There's a ton of R&B coming from women now, between H.E.R., Jorja, SZA, Summer Walker's coming, it's a good time. There's also a lot of internet slander, all of which is confusing but some of which is hilarious. I saw a dude comment "singing along with Jorja Smith and hitting all of the notes because neither of you can sing >>>>>" and I about died. It feels like it's been a long time since Jhene dropped anything.
Vince's album was only 22 minutes, more hidden feature nonsense (Ty Dolla $ign on the first song, Jay Rock on 3, Earl and Tyga on the songs they're obvious on, Kehlani on the last one), but any new Earl snippet is fine by me, and this great video came out of it (end is classic Vince):

Still rocking with the 21 and Thug songs off of Metro's tape. Thug is probably top 5 of the decade to me, I like Gunna but you see how much better the original is when they're on a song together, Thug saved him. Takeoff's album was boring to me, surprised he only had 2 features (the worst Migo and store brand Swae Lee). Two other albums to check out are Bronson's White Bronco (short and sweet, Bronson has a medium floor and medium ceiling, all of his songs are good to me) and Poison by Swizz. It would be better if this dude didn't think Suge Knight's old shot at Diddy was a compliment, seriously this dude is trying to do every hook, **** is no bueno. Cold Blooded with Push is DOPE, and then of course Wayne with gems like "Tunechi in this bitch, eyes lookin' like konichiwa, Swizzy on the beat, I'ma beat it like policia", legend.
Then we got this one from Kap G:

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
There's very few dudes who've put out as much material as him that I've enjoyed, his volume is just crazy. But he's a Wayne disciple so it's an easy sale for me. Probably:
Kendrick, Gibbs, Thugger, The Weeknd, I dunno who the 5th would be... Probably Drake just because of the choke hold he had on my iTunes between when Take Care came out through Viewsish. Cole, Curren$y, Mac, Meek, Wiz...its crazy how much impact some have over a short period of time. Earl is up there. Like if you would've told me Chance wouldn't make it after how I bumped 10 Day and Acid Rap I wouldn't believe it but his recent output is meh to me. ScHoolboy Q is up there, Chief Keef almost made it just off of Back from the Dead and Finally Rich. A decade is a long time to stay relevant I guess.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 11-05-2018, 09:53 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I **** with Thug, I just can’t get with the Top 5 of the Decade thing when he’s most likely not top 5 out of Atlanta over the last decade.
(This Thread has been quiet for too long and I’m ready to argue some takes/opinions, lol)
I’m barely 32 and I feel like I’m starting to get washed out of Hip Hop with all these new(read: Trash)dudes coming out, lol#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I use your and OJ's Ingram scale when talking about new rappers. Like I say Trippie Redd's music is 73% trash but the other 27% I love. My little brother is 18, I'm 25 and this dude brings me something every week where I swear I'm 60. I've been looking for my exit ramp from hip-hop in my old age recently, jazz is cool but I need words. We'll always have R&B I guess, even though that's taken a younger more rap infused tone as well. Just gotta hope Kendricks keep sprouting up or the last generation transitions into their 4:44 years like Jay did. Hard to believe Nas was 19-20 recording Illmatic, Joey was 17 when 1999 dropped but that was basically an homage. The star 16 year old in my time was Chief Keef, now it's Lil Pump. Keef at least had Young Chop for his production, Pump's music is not on the same level.
5 dudes better than Thug out of Atlanta in the last decade? I gotta see that list. I'm like... I could see Gucci because everyone came up under his tree, 2 Chainz I love so maybe that. I'm out after that. pleasedontsayMigosarebetterthanYoungThug
Tryna think of my list... Probably Thug, Killer Mike, Gucci, Big Boi, 2 Chainz.Last edited by DieHardYankee26; 11-06-2018, 06:47 AM.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I was never a big Jeezy fan, I think I stopped listening to him completely after I found out he tried to off Gucci smh.
It's J.I.D season, his album DiCaprio 2 comes out Black Friday. His single with Cole is great, as is 151 Rum, and his verse on Rapsody's song on the 9th Wonder collective album. Could be an AOTY contender. Off the top of my head I've got Fetti, Room 25, Pieces of a Man, Swimming, and Drogas Wave as my top 5 of the second half. I'd add Whack World (which I found out about late) and Victory Lap (which I just slept on) to the first half. There's some good stuff coming out before the end of the year so I'll see what changes.
Early Christmas gift from Black Thought, Streams v2:

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
So what ya'lls top 5 albums looking like? Can be rap only or not. Just curious because this is pretty much the only active music thread on OS nowadays.
