Coloring Book, but it looks like it was just an official mixtape that was available for streaming since release.

Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Yeah I’m digging Cordae and I rarely like the new cats since the trap era started. Dope production too, definitely on repeat for me for awhile.
By the way saw Sinner is new to hip hop and wanted to share two important songs to hip hop that were not hip hop records. They were sampled many times and birthed Hop Hop, Jungle and Drum n Bass.
Sampled by Sugar Hill Gang to Nas. Also a staple beat for all break dancers
(Famous Break is at 1:26) From Straight Outta Compton to the endless Jungle and Drum and Bass songs.
Crazy to think how those 6 seconds changed the world.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Bongo Rock is a great album.
Made the mistake of giving the new Chance another, well, chance. He's gotten some ok/good scores from gen pop, but I just don't hear any kind of cohesiveness at all. My man is signing like he's five years old in the backseat of his momma's car and his rapping isn't much better honestly. The kicker, though, is how long this thing is. 22 tracks? Jesus. I would have killed myself reviewing that ****.Last edited by Fresh Tendrils; 08-01-2019, 01:43 PM.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
In honor of Care Package, I fixed up my Drake playlist (almost 24 hours of songs) and listened to it up and down the road to Charlottesville on Saturday. Dude is too catchy. Shout out to the 15 year olds about to hear Drake's greatest contribution to music for the first time (Paris Morton Music). "Would've came back for you, I just needed time to do what I had to do. Caught in a life, I can't let it go. Whether that's right, I won't ever know." Hits just like it did the first time. Jodeci Freestyle too. Honestly kinda disappointed I don't feel like anything special was done, PMM sounds the same as the YouTube rip I've had for like 8 years, but whatever.
As far as really new stuff, the Black Milk EP is pretty smooth. I still need to get through Tobi Lou's album, only heard the first 5 songs and like the sound. He's in the Chance happy rap lane I guess but less painful to listen to.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Coming into Charlottesville riding with Drake? Man. That is not how we do things.
Spoiler
Seriously, though. Welcome to the neighborhood man.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I want to put together a playlist to shoot basketball to and am trying to come up with any song that specifically mentions, is about basketball in some sense, or related to basketball in some way.
Anything come to mind from you guys?
So far I have Space Jam s/t and a bunch of random songs that use basketball metaphors. Then of course a bunch of songs that are just good basketball tempo songs.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
That list could be a million songs long. How related to basketball? Conway has a line that goes "He ****ed up his pack already? Nah, say word. He broke early in the season, Gordon Hayward." Does that make the cut. JID - "Can't see the floor, I'm elevated where the steps at, James Bond 9, James Harden with the stepback." Travis - "I need fake ****** to get way back, James Harden with the range on me, ***** way back." Every struggle rapper under the age of 30 has rhymed Kobe and Ginobli. Boogie - "Ain't no dreams of being Mike, he can't do **** for me. I'm tryna be like G Weeder, ***** that's my big homie." Kendrick has a song called Michael Jordan with Q on one of his older mixtapes. Mach-Hommy - "You gotta run up and pull, take a chance like when John Starks dunked on the Bulls." Benny the Butcher - "The realest **** I write might be the realest **** of life, at the Knicks game so close, I'm spilling **** on Spike." and in the same song "Listen dawg, we really came from grave conditions. Ran the trap like an offense and I'm Lane Kiffin. Waiting on the lob from Chris Paul, guess I'm Blake Griffin, the tec shoot from AK distance, so I can't miss ya."
Your best bet is probably to make playlists from 2k contracts and get the explicit versions.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Basically if there was anything specifically about basketball like Kurtis Blow. If not I would open it up to just lines/verses with basketball imagery - which I know there are millions of and would basically just be a grab bag at that point.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Yeah, 2K definitely tricks 3 people or so into making songs about basketball every year, I can't stand them. That's definitely your best bet.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
