Heads up: Noname, Saba, and Smino are dropping new music together under the name Ghetto Sage. Supposed to put something out this Thursday/Friday.

Kodak with the late entry for hook of the year, it's that time of year for these instrumentals.

In the last month or so:

                Rap
Benny x Smoke EP - Great
Griselda Dr. Birds Single - Great
Black Moon I haven't gotten a chance to listen to
38 Spesh put out an album called 1994 of current rappers rhyming over remade versions of beats from 94, Benny and Conway over "Never Seen A Man Cry" is crazy
Guapdad 4000 Dior Deposits is a pretty decent hip-pop album, Buddy's feature is great
Wynne (pronounced like the Pooh) is a White girl from Portland with Dame and JID features, her album is pretty good
21 Savage Immortal Single - Rap and Mortal Kombat, everything that is good in the world
Gang Starr One of the Best Yet - Doesn't even sound like a posthumous album, Premier really did something here. That So Many Rappers instrumental is dope, and I can't remember the last time I saw MOP on a track.
Westside Gunn HWH7 - Another great entry in the Hitler Wears Hermes series, I just **** with Gunn at this point, dude could put on a simple beat and talk **** for 2 minutes and I'm five starring it. Lucha Bros with Benny and Curren$y, Undertaker vs. Goldberg with Conway, Kool G is classic, Griselda wins again.

                R&B
Berhana Han Album - Pretty good, kinda pop-ish like Childish Gambino, California is my song off there
Gallant Sweet Insomnia Album - Dude's voice is unfair, 6lack blessed his feature, and Celine is beautiful, Compromise is good contingent on your feelings on Sabrina Claudio.
Snoh Aalegra I Want You Around 6lack Remix - Everything dude touches is dope right now

New Robert Glasper album has Mick Jenkins and a lot of Cordae on it, All I Do (Sir's voice is unreal), the usual Yasiin Bey feature, it made me go back and check out the Black Radios again and I remember this man recreated Cherish the Day with Lalah Hathaway, truly a man of taste. Nothing touches the original obviously, but that first "You're ruling the way that I move" hits with 90% of the feeling that Sade's does and that's all any normal human can hope to achieve. New Summer Walker album is great too, all the samples make it sound like a woman's version of one of the Chixtapes Tory Lanez made. Body, I'll Kill You with Jhene, Come Thru with Usher, great all the way through.

Went through Tupac's discography, and then Biggie. I swear I thought Tupac had more than 5 albums. I feel like Me Against the World, All Eyez, and The Don Killuminati are all on the same tier but Me Against the World is probably my favorite, surprising for a double album. That first disc is S tier, but a 2 hour album is too much. Ready to Die is better than all of them, Gimme the Loot to Machine Gun Funk to Ready to Die is unfair. It made me wonder who I'd give the most S tier albums to, Nas 1, Biggie 1, Tupac none, Kendrick already has 2...I'm gonna go through Jay-Z's stuff when I can get my computer back up.

Me Against the world isn't a double album. It's one disc. And Pac has more than 5 albums if u count the ones after he died like Remember Me? (R U Still Down), Better Days, Untill the End of Time, Still I Rise, Loyal 2 Da Game, and Pac’s Life.

Meant All Eyez there, but I'm not going to listen to those others. I learned my lesson with Duets, very few people can be trusted with posthumous albums. I wasn't a big enough fan of his to want to go down that rabbit hole.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

Rap albums: Boogie, Little Simz, Benny, Freddie Gibbs, Little Brother, Rapsody, Earthgang, Skyzoo & Pete Rock, not out yet but I'd almost bet my life the Griselda Shady debut is top 3 when my list gets made

R&B albums: SiR, Snoh Aalegra, Summer Walker, Gallant, combine Juice Vol 1 and 2 by the Emotional Oranges

There's too many songs. Palmolive is up there, Gold Roses, Black Magic, Never Seen a Man Cry, Numb Numb Juice, Carry the Tradition, Song 31 and Song 31 by Noname, Caught Up by Majid Jordan is high for R&B, as is the new Snoh Aalegra 6lack remix. Gold Roses might take it.

I'll have to check out those R&B ones. Didn't listen to much throughout the year unless it was "nu-retro" or whatever.

Album: Eve by Rapsody. Second tier is Bandana from MadGibbz followed by The Lost Boy by YBN Cordae.

And the rest. Haven't really deep dived into Earthgang yet. I'd say it's solid, but doesn't really grab me as a whole. Nothing really feels head & shoulders above anything else apart from Swivel and Top Down. Love their energy and their style so look to keep up with them in the future. Boogie was great, but definitely a cold weather album to me. Which is coming back around again so time to pop that back in the queue.

I'd put Little Brother and Pete Rock/Skyzoo on the third tier, but haven't listened to them enough to be comfortable with that. Both are super smooth and a blast to listen to, though.

I was really hoping Big Krit would deliver another instant classic, but just didn't happen. IZ Here is definitely solid from top to bottom, but nothing earth-shattering or overtly memorable. Production is top-notch and ultimately what I kept coming back for.

Songs. I think I've already mentioned all the ones I kept on repeat:
                            RNP - Cordae feat Paak
                            The whole Eve album
                            Swivel - Earthgang
                            Wells Fargo - Dreamville
                            Cataracts, Crime Pays - MadGibbz
Skydive & Skydive II, lolsmh - Boogie
                            etc etc

The Cordae album pretty much came and went for me, the DeadEnd review pretty much summed it up. It sounds good, but nothing really excites me, it's hard to explain. I want to see what's next and to hear him on features. The funny thing about the Cole comparison to me is that even though I love some of Coles stuff, I probably like him more as a person than his music and this could be another one.

My desktop being down for a month somehow led to me starting the Joe Budden podcast from episode 1 and now I'll probably end up going down that rabbit hole, I never really listened to all of his solo stuff as much as I paid attention to Slaughterhouse releases.

                                FKA Twigs album is crazy.

Was looking at an end of decade list and thinking how impossible it would be to rank 10 years worth of albums, I think my number 1 for rap and R&B are pretty solidified, Kush & Orange Juice and Trilogy (or just House of Balloons if Trilogy doesn't count).
