I'm nearly done now. Have had Em, 070, and Royce's Street Hop going this morning at work. The new Em is banging I have to admit. The singles are a little too polished, but it's understandable.

070 reminds me of 6lack, SZA, and dvsn in parts.

Speaking of dvsn - pretty sure they have a new album popping up this year. They released a new song today - A Muse.

I like MA's part on Unaccommodating, You Gon Learn, Godzilla a little bit, Darkness (though I could've gone without hearing it on my walk to class), Yah Yah, and I Will though I can't stop laughing at the lack of Budden. I probably won't come back to most of this.

Some really good stuff on the Dreamville Deluxe, I love Late Night, Landstrip Chip is someone I'm looking out for. He had a song Thumb with Lil Baby that was like the most catchy thing ever, I like the way he uses autotune when he's not doing higher pitched stuff, pretty much like Nav. No Chorus, Disgusted, Still Dreamin, I definitely would've cut some from the original to make room for these but as long as we got them it's good I guess.

Shake reminds me of a female SAINt JHN, who reminds me of a cross between Cudi and PartyNextDoor. Singles are still probably my favorite songs, but that's fine, Guilty Conscience is amazing.

Love the 070 Shake album. Fits the type of music I tend to gravitate towards nowadays.

Random but I was walking to class the other day with my phone on shuffle, and Pull Up by A Boogie and Nav came on. I almost burst out laughing on the sidewalk at the way this dude starts the song. "I pulled up in a Benz truck oooh, you pulled up in your friend's truck mmm". Dude sounded legitimately upset for the guy in his friend's car, made him reevaluate his whole life lol.

Benny and Royce going stupid on Royce’s 4th single. So much stuff came out, haven’t gotten through most of it. No surprise D Smoke’s album is good.

Run the Jewels is touring with recently reunited Rage Against the Machine to support RATM's "world" tour. They will be in DC in August. IF tickets aren't insane I'd love go, but we'll see. Don't really want to drop a small fortune.

Also related - El-P's album "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" is *finally* available on streaming services. Fat Possum will be re-releasing his solo albums on vinyl this year. I loved that album when it came out.

Did anybody **** with Mr. Lif's "I Phantom" from 2002?

I've been getting back into it the past couple of months and with it a lot of other early 00s' groups/albums I completely forgot about like Deltron, all of the MF Doom collabs, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Murs, etc. Hard to believe this **** is nearly 20 years old. Gotdam.

Never heard of it. I made a conscious effort to avoid the backpacker wave mostly because of the people who I knew that were into it. Madvillainy is the only thing I’ve taken from it and that was when I got to college.

I’ve listened to Flyest, Highest, Coolest, Smoothest so many times at this point I both want to figure out what episode of Friends the producer took his tag from and need to play some Assassins Creed.

Sheff G has a song called Countdown from a few years ago that uses the same sample as the Whoa beat...and now I’ve found the sample of the Whoa beat. Go listen to Francois Valery - Joy and then listen to Whoa and tell me this **** isn’t art. The way these dudes flip these samples is just insane to me. To make that as hard as it came out is unreal.
