    Re: Fringe anyone?

I think you've got a nice idea on things there. I know I've ignored the possibility of another Walter - just never crossed my mind. But, a similar thought crossed it when Peter talked about his mother in last night's episode. I started to see Peter as the alternate dimension one and realized that the mother he knows could very well be Mother2 (lets use your 1 and 2 to separate people). Why I never even considered his memory of Walter as being Walter2 is beyond me, but it makes a lot of sense.

This would explain Walter's facial expressions every time Peter says something negative about his past with his father. Walter is probably remembering how violent Walter2 was and cringes at the thought of his "son" having to live with such a man.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Walter has talked about childhood memories that Peter has had trouble recalling - likely because Walter is really referring to Peter1 who is dead.

So, Walter2 is angry and wants his son back. All of this could just be revenge.

Though, I'm sure there's much more because it wouldn't explain wanting to kill Dunham. There's a lot more with the testing and William Bell that hasn't been uncovered. I also think there's still a story in Peter's amazing intelligence - I doubt it was naturally conceived.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

      Re: Fringe anyone?

During the early days of the first season, I thought William Bell and Walter Bishop were either the same person, or alternate versions of one guy. That's obviously out the window, but it always stuck with me that there would be another Walter. I don't even think that's right, it's just something that came to mind that sounded good, it doesn't explain a lot of things.

About Dunham, there is something out there that whoever is on the other side of the pattern wants, or at least they don't want Dunham/Fringe Division to have.

A couple of things I hope they don't start throwing into the mix: time travel or another reality. At first I thought that the doppelganger might have been from the future, especially because the whole thing about preventing a meeting, but since it was revealed that it was all about some thing that is hidden somewhere I don't really think that. As far as other dimensions go, this is all confusing enough with 2 realities and 2 versions of people, throw in more and it's going to get to cluster---- proportions quickly, not to mention it will give writers an easy way to create some surprise moments that turn out to be cheap writing tricks when they say it was just another reality. IMO they need to stick with this two, and perhaps, at the most, say the observer is from another reality that is never really delved into (though I suspect he is from the future).

Yes. I don't mind the alternate dimension so long as there is only one. If they start throwing in three Peters or have people traveling through time, it'll cause chaos and it'll be unsatisfying to watch.

I assume that the new threat didn't realize that Olivia had traveled to the other dimension to visit William Bell. I think that was the meeting he was trying to prevent. Whatever Bell told Olivia is important, but Olivia has no recollection of it.

5 bucks says they go bank to the tank to find it.

I'm not so sure, they don't know how important what she had been told was (they only really know doppelganger was trying to kill her, not why), combined with the fact they were all so hurt by thinking she was brain dead, I bet they aren't so keen on risking her life in the tank.

Crazy. So that near crash in that last episode of season 1 comes back around. I was trying to explain to my girlfriend about that, but she had forgotten.

I'm definitely going to need to watch each and every episode of this series one day.

This series is so creepy, so crazy... it keeps me hooked. Looks like Francis is gone. But I'd like to know what's up with Francis2, the one with the scar on his face. I bet he'll show up sometime soon...

Excellent season opener. I'm sure everyone saw the Charlie situation coming from a mile away. I love the new girl already. Not just because she's fine, but because she seems to be All In on the craziness from word one. Didn't see any of Olivia's stuff coming, both of those were jaw droppers. Man. they added a couple new layers to Broyles in a hurry. Its good to see some new potential story-lines open up for him.

With BSG and SCC both gone, Fringe is probably my number one show now, I'm glad to see it coming out so strong.

I read that she may have crossed over at that point and not in the elevator. Then she comes back in this reality where she crashed and is thrown through the windshield.

I don't think time travel is a part of Fringe's world, I think its just an "other" world and such.

Yeah. Honestly, I probably would've forgotten about it had there not been a bit of discussion about it in this very thread. It's nice to come here and discuss the show a little bit instead of just watching it and enjoying it internally. See what others are thinking. Some of you guys here catch everything!

I like that this latest episode at least furthered the main story arc more than a lot of last year's episodes, but I found the episode to be pretty obvious and dull (at least after they met with the doctor played by John Savage at his house).

That scene with John Savage gnawing on the wire made my teeth hurt.

Man, that guy at the bowling alley is everywhere. He can never catch a break in television. Looks like he'll be on for a bit this season.

John Savage is such a ridiculously crazy actor too, but he's talented and I liked his portrayal of the father.

As for the story, it was cool. I get what they were trying to show there. It was an introduction to Dunham's "mutant" abilities by surrounding the show with mutants.

My guess is that Dunham finds out Charlie because she overhears him discuss something.
