Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever. -

Again, I'm 100% positive that the blue streaks of light aren't just lighting techniques. It's signs of the two universes converging, either by someone peeking in or someone observing. Something. Those lights were everywhere when Bell was talking to Walter.
I'm also going to assume that either Peter or Olivia has Walter's memory of how to open the door."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Fringe anyone?

Newton shows Walter a picture of what I’m assuming is a bowl of custard. Walter associates it with Peter, who used to love custard as a child. Except he didn’t. Original Peter did. As we learnt in “A New Day In The Old Town”, our stolen-from-the-other-side Peter doesn’t like custard and never has. This is just another brick in the Walter and Peter abduction storyline which is sure to come crashing down at some point.

Perhaps the most significant clue of the episode -- Newton is wearing a watch with a Massive Dynamic logo. Does this imply that the Massive Dynamic of “over there” are the one’s behind the First Wave? It would make sense on many levels. It could also be a diversion -- it would be pretty silly of them to plaster their logo on watches given to their secret undercover spies. Then again, Newton only got a body 2 months ago, so I’m not sure how much we can read into this easteregg -- it just depends how tricky the writers want to get.

Interesting.
Has Peter ever mentioned having nightmares or memories of someone taking him? I can't recall."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Fringe anyone?
I think I've watched a good ten episodes of this show between seasons 1 and 2.
I love the subject matter, but I don't like the show at all. None of the characters are compelling, there is nothing that makes me care about the main plot and worst of all, I'm not entertained in the least bit. I'm bored. In fact, I'm so bored that I can reliably put this show on when I need to quickly induce sleep.
This is really disappointing for me, because I love the subject matter and a few of the cast members. Being a fan of the X files, Twilight Zone, Lost and all matters of conspiracy and pseudo science, I really thought this would be a gem once I got into it. Instead, this is a sterile derivative of all of the above. I hope that this show doesn't prevent the production of other shows along the same lines. It'd be nice to see this successfully done.Comment

I think the last two episodes really helped move the story forward and started doing a good job of developing Walter Bishop.I think I've watched a good ten episodes of this show between seasons 1 and 2.

I know it's not a response to the lowered ratings as the episode was obviously written and filmed well before they could suspect the lost viewership, but I do hope it's not too late.
I understand your frustration. I enjoy the show very much, but I do feel that character development has been extremely slow.
Perhaps this is a problem with a JJ Abrams created series. I think he needs to begin pushing a spanish novella-like limit on his productions. A lot of Fringe is being milked because there is no real end game. It's unfortunate because I think this series has loads of potential that haven't been touched."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Fringe anyone?
I don't know if I can pin it on JJ. I thought Lost and Alias did a great job of being immediately engaging, and making their respective protagonists sympathetic from jump. Both the situation, and the main character drew the audiences in before the pilot was over, and those themes resonated throughout the series. Fringe is much sloppier by contrast.
I'll probably watch all of Fringe, just because I could gain so much inspiration from it if it doesn't suck. At this point I'm in it just for the subject matter though. Unless something big happens, I'm totally checked out on the "characters".Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
Fringe was part of an experiment to do this type of show where if you would happen to miss an episode you wouldn't be lost. Unfortunately, this meant that the show's and characters' developments both crawled at a snails pace. They tweaked it about halfway through the first season, then again at the beginning of season 2 and now it seems they have abandoned that mentality completely.
I couldn't disagree more about Lost and Alias, BTW, I found both to be extremely uninteresting from the get-go and didn't watch either for but a couple of episodes. I almost quit watching Fringe as well, the episode that was likely going to be my last was the one with the light box that finally moved the story forward somewhat so I stuck with it.Comment

Re: Fringe anyone?
Compelling or not I like the characters-apparently Burns11 disagrees with you about how compelling the characters are/were in Lost and Alias . My main problem with the series is that it seems to be written "on the fly" in respect to it's big picture. Throw in some freaks here and there, sometimes force a connection with the "other side", and then meander on to the next week. Ever get the idea the writers don't have a clue to what they'll be writing next?I think I've watched a good ten episodes of this show between seasons 1 and 2.
