I loved this frickin series to death. Ah, even my wife watched it - and that's a big deal because she passes out anything that doesn't include reality TV...or the Mentalist (oh how I loathe you, Patrick Jane).

Sad to see it go - but for so many ways they could have drawn out the ending - and mess it up; it was so gracefully released and yes, we are still discussing it. Incredible.

Is anyone else glad that Michael never said a word the entire duration? It'd be so easy for the writers to make him say something at the end, and end up sort of cliche. Loved how consistent this last season was.

P.S - I miss Anna Torv already; don't tell my wife.

Reviving this thread because I just Fringe binged on Netflix over the past few months. I always meant to watch this show when I first heard about it but since it was on FOX and I was still suffering from Sarah Connor Chronicles syndrome, I decided to wait if Fringe would last long enough for the show-runners to tell their story. Thankfully, they were given that time. Reading thru this whole thread, my view of the show is downright positive since I didn't have to go thru seasonal breaks but at the same time, I agree with some posters who said that part of the show was influenced because they didn't know about their fate from season to season.

Anyway, season 1 I started back in December and I thought it was a good show but the procedural aspects were holding it back. After a mini-break, I started season 2 around mid-March, slowly going thru it until early April when I finally saw the season 2 finale when it finally entered "THIS **** IS GREAT" territory for me and I devoured seasons 3-5 in a span of 2-and-1/2 weeks. Aside from the mythology that sucked me in, I haven't felt this attached to a group of characters since LOST left (Game of Thrones is in a separate box of emotions). I only ever knew of John Noble as Denethor but holy hell am I an admirer of his now. If there's anyone that can convince the world at large that taking recreational drugs is okay, it's Walter Bishop. Anna Torv, well, my oh my ! Season 2 really allowed her to act the hell out of her character and then season 3 just brought all the feels. Hollywood, we need more Anna Torv! I also can't help but mention the theme of fathers and sons. Conveyed really well on Fringe and is the second JJ Abrams TV show I've seen that features it heavily. The other, of course, being LOST.

Story-wise, I kind of wish they went about the reset in season 4 differently. It got solved eventually with Peter & Olivia having their memories but I can only imagine the fallout from season 3 if memories stayed, Fauxlivia still has Henry, how Peter/Olivia would react, and how the conflict between the universes would be resolved with the bridge present. Like what if the reason they stop fighting is because the Observers invade both universes in 2015 and season 5 plays out just slightly different from what we got? I think that would have been amazing to witness.

In any case, I'm glad I finally watched this show. Still on a Fringe high (or depression since there's nothing more to watch), I'd put it in my top 5. With that ending, maybe we can see a mini-series one day (or next year since Observers). It's happening to 24, why not Fringe?!

I loved this show. I still think that it was better than Lost.

Lost had a huge following and I was a part of that first major series to combine Internet with television. It was great to follow with so many people.

But I think Fringe told the better story and still means more to me than Lost did.

I haven't rewatched LOST since it ended so maybe once I do that, I'll have a more level-headed opinion of the show. LOST was my introduction to grand, serialized story-telling so I hold it in high regard. Previous to that was Angel but I don't even think they're on the same level.

Going back to Fringe, it clearly didn't enter the zeitgeist the way LOST did but it's impact on fans and the genre seems to be unquestionable. I read an interview saying Fringe could go on forever (which I believe), but I can only imagine how much better Fringe's story could have been (which it already is) if it got the LOST treatment by the end of season 2 or 3 -- we're giving you enough episodes to reach 100, go tell the story you set out to tell. Alas, that's what having the numbers LOST was getting afforded it. Still, what's done is done and I applaud what the viewers ended up getting anyway.

Another thing that really impressed me on this show - the special FX. One of the best (or THE BEST) on network television. The only outright "that's fake!" fx I can recall are Nina's arm and the porcupine/winged beast. The rest are convincing enough that it's not a distraction.

Story rant: I still think "The Boy Must Live" pertains more to Peter than Michael, because so much of the story of Fringe depended on him.

"Fringe Binge"? I like it!

I might have to do a binge on this because I just finished watching the Office for the 3rd time around and it may be time for some true Sci Fi!

Would be interesting if those of you who saw it as it aired Fringe Binge and see if your opinion of it changes or you notice something you didn't before.
