I wouldn't be surprised if FOX gave it a shortened 13 episode 5th season to push the series to 100 episodes for more syndication $..Plus it does well overseas. Another network picking it up is highly unlikely because it's expensive to produce and doesn't really fit on any of the other networks.

I think best we can hope for is a shortened 5th season but at worst we still got 2/3 of this season left, hardly any repeats thanks to the 2 month break and the producers word that it will have a satisfying series finale if this does turn out to be the last season.
Yeah, when I read that statement a while back it gave me a sense of relief that there would be some kind quality endgame to the narrative.

Stargate Universe, Rubicon, Dollhouse, Terminator the Sara Conner Chronicles, Caprica, Flash Forward, a lot shows that I've been into lately have been getting detonated after one or two seasons, I'm quite please to have gotten four seasons from Fringe.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Never really watched shows until Fringe came along, and me and my fiance' got into it.

Watched the first and second seasons as they aired, but missed out on the 3rd. Got her the complete season for Christmas, and we're through to the last episode. Completely renewed my love for this show. It's nuts, you never know what crazy stuff is going to go on.

I LOVED the cartoon episode. Love that kind of art style and just doing something different.

The story is getting way too convoluted for my tastes.

It didn't lose any viewers, but they ratings are still very low. The only way it comes back is if they give it away again.

                  Re: Fringe anyone?

Happy this is back but to be honest, not as excited about this show as I used to be.

I think I'm falling out of love with network television. Just seems too formulaic and predictably convoluted.

Fringe is special to me, so I'm not saying I hate the show. I still love it.

Anyway, I do like the face turn in this episode and I expected that whatever his name is was behind the new shape shifters. Wasn't he before?

No, this is a new revelation, before he wanted to make a portal to Altverse to get at William Bell who he had a grudge against. He did die there, but the Peter reset seems to have brought him back.

That's right. But the whole thing about Peter killing someone by splitting them in half made me think of the guy. Little bit of foreshadowing I guess.

Agreed. I think I liked it better when it was more 'villian of the week'. Then it's alternate universes, then alternate timelines within alternate universes. Meh. I still watch and enjoy the show, but I can't say I'm overly upset if this is the last season.

Personally I hate shows like that. Its part why I don't watch shows like law and order. Nothing keeping me interested as the following weeks show won't have anything to do with this weeks show. Never did enjoy shows like that.

Although I do like episodic shows like Law and Order, and in terms of Sci-Fi, shows like Eureka and Warehouse 13, which primarily have stand alone episodes, they pale in comparison, IMO, to serial shows qualitatively.

Yes, episodic shows do tend to get better ratings, but I'll take the convoluted narratives of a Fringe, Battlestar Galactica or Game of Thrones over a villain of the week tale any day.

PS: If you didn't like tonight's episode, well then the show just isn't for you anymore.
