Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Just came back from the seeing the first showing this morning and even though it's not as good as the first one, it still had some good moments, but the movie was all over the place. The CGI was good from what I saw and it's definetely Blu Ray worthy. I think some people just thought there was too much laughter for it being a action movie, but you have to remember, it's a summer blockbuster and it is a Michael Bay movie. Hence why you see that Bad Boys poster in Sam's room. Fox did good for her part, even though she wasn't really asked to do much for the film. The supporting characters did their part for the movie, even though Josh Duhamel should have been given a little more screen time, since he was an important part of the first movie.

The White Sands footage (where they shot the last scenes) were beautiful and it does look like that for anybody that has been there.

In all, it's a good action movie, but is a little long. There could have been some scenes cut out, but I think Bay gave what the audience wants and that's a summer movie. Anybody expecting another Dark Knight like last year will be disappointed, but like people have said...It's a robot movie.

Michael Bay, Roland Emmerich and Stephen Sommers are all releasing films this summer. God help us all.

                        Same here man.

It was not all that great. It was "OK" at best.

I thought that the first one was the ****. This one fell way short of the first.

I don't know what it was really. Just didn't have as much of the "WOW. That's cool!" impact like the first one had on me.

I don't even know what they would do if they came out with another one. There's only so many times you can have giant robots chasing a boy before it gets old.

But I did find it pretty damn funny though. "Orange Smoke" had me rollin'.

                        O and...

It was alright, typical Michael Bay movie with tons of explosions, military porn, lame dialogue, juvenile jokes and then giant robots. I enjoyed the first one, but this one never really picked up steam for me other than some of the fight scenes (ie: in the woods). I did think the fight scenes were better this time around, I could actually tell who was who and wtf was going on.

See, these lines are actually pretty funny. Didn't try too hard and didn't detract from the scene at all (and in fact both dictated the scene just slightly). They did this well a few times in the first Transformers.

See, the humor I don't like is stuff like this (and I'll refer to the first movie so there aren't any real spoilers)... basically, anything between first meeting the Autobots and before S7 invades the Witwicky home:

                                - "Oops. Sorry, my bad."
                                - "What's crackin' little bitches?"
                                - "Whoa, that was tingling!"
                                - "We can call it 'Sam's happy time'."
                                - "BAD MOJO!"
                                - "I mean I'm saying we could... it's an option." (regarding "terminating" the parents).

Things like this were put into this one, only mostly with the twin Autobots and the parents (and Shia spazzing out so awkwardly in Dwight's class). Otherwise, the first movie sort of refrained from that kind of humor, except a few times when Sam first introduced himself to Mikaela, which I think sort of boded pretty well for his personality that we saw in the beginning.

And this second movie was not a matter of meeting expectations; if this were the first movie, perhaps I would have been more in awe of the special effects, but I would have thought it was just as bad of a movie. The first one shines compared to this.
