This reminds me of something I forgot to mention....

As I was walking out the theater to the parking lot, a group of people dressed up as Batman, Bane and Catwoman walked past me. I just shook my head, while also wishing the girl in the Catwoman costume would have actually been hot.

I'm going to see this tonight again with a friend. Still looking forward to it again. Catwoman is sexy. Blake is awesome. Batman is aggressive. Bane is Darth Vader.

I had the Riddler and Joker sitting behind me. Glad I didn't hear about that shooting before seeing the movie.

Bane totally gave me the Darth Vader vibe as well and also Jaws from Bond! Going again today with the wife, can't wait!

Taking it personal, eh? Well since you spoke up, yes I thought your interpretation was ignorant. This isn't TDK no matter how much you or anyone else wants it to be. Comparing every aspect of the movie to the way it was done in another movie makes you look misinformed and there's no place for that. Honestly I don't care what you think about it, just letting you know.

His points are valid even if being a bit nitpicky. The things TDK does and accomplishes versus the things TDKR does and accomplishes were executed better in TDK. In that sense I think they're valid. I don't agree with his recommendations to explore the exact same themes and arcs from TDK in TDKR as that would blurry the overall series message, however.

The mere fact that we can converse on this level about a blockbuster movie should probably speak a lot about everybody's intelligence in this thread no matter their opinion.

I've learned to stop caring what others think. I personally loved it and it's one of my top 5 favorite movies. If someone else thinks it's the worst movie of all time and wants to bash it relentlessly, no big deal. I've got my own thoughts on the movie and that's all that matters. No point getting worked up about someone else's opinion

The great thing about this series is all three are very different movies. TDKR isn't TDK with a new plot and bad guy. The entire feel and visual look of all three movies is so different.

That's what I immediately felt as well when I walked out. They all felt extremely different from one to the other, and I love that about this trilogy

Maybe I'm being misunderstood. My point is, treat this as its own story. Much like the comics, certain situations change each character and the way they react to things. This was no different. I just have this suspicion that too many wanted it to be better than TDK and because they didn't understand the overall story, were let down. I personally knew it couldn't live up to The Joker's performance and I was completely blown away. I apologize if I offended anyone.

                            Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I understand that nobody should really compare TDK, but others in the thread have fairly IMO, pointed out some criticisms and weird things about Rises.

These criticisms have nothing to do with TDK at all. There were some plot holes and different aspects that are nitpicky in a sense.. but still pretty valid.

Rises on its own is still a standout film and a nice wrap up to the best trilogy ever in my eyes.

I got to see TDKR at the 9 am showing this morning with two of my kids and left very happy albeit there being some issues and inconsistencies. I'll post some thoughts later.

                                Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Reading things all around the net, I feel like there is basically an even three way split on the place of this film in the Nolan Batman series. 1/3, like me, think that this one is the best, 1/3 think it's second behind TDK, and the other 1/3, of course, think that it's the weakest of the three. Everyone is of course totally correct in their thinking. It makes me sad that so many people have to angrily discuss which one they think is the best, as if their personal honor is at stake. Some folks can't seem to respect the validity of the other persons interpretation.

For me, they all are 10/10, basically a three way photo finish, with maybe two or three scenes that particularly resonate with me, being the difference maker in my eyes.

I'm thinking about the reboot, which is probably less than five years off, since Bats will now be in a universe with Supes, and GL, and Flash, there needs to be a slight shift from the Nolan Batman.

The one area of The Batman mythos that Nolan basically ignored, is ironically what comic book batman is best know for, being the worlds greatest detective. It's understandable that in a 2 1/2 hour superhero movie, that one would choose to shelve the Sherlock Holmesian stuff in favor of more action or science, or technology.

In a Justice League movie though, with all the other heroes performing the big action feats, it would make sense to play up Batman's unparalleled deductive reasoning skills.
