Also, the religious overtones are smacking us all in the face. Think about what Ben said. It was something along the lines of "I've listened to what you've asked for all these years, done what you asked without question and I couldn't even see you... but someone just walks in and gets waltzed right up to you because they asked?"

I'm not sure if I caused confusion fistofrage, but Titus is the name of the actor. Titus Welliver. There is no documented name for the Man in Black.

I didn't want to say this just yet, but it's obvious that Lost is in love with Stephen King. I mean in L-O-V-E, LOVE. And it's not just the books that make an appearance. There are scenes and character names stripped right out of a Stephen King book.

The most blatant is now obvious and it comes from The Dark Tower Series Book I: The Gunslinger.

The first line:

"The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed."

That entire series of 7 books has a lot of Lost all over it. I just finished that series two months ago and my eyes just kept opening up every time I felt like I seen that before.

There is a scene in the Second Book: The Drawing of the Three where they're on a plane and Eddie Dean tries to run to the bathroom and the stewardess tells him that he can't go to the restroom. Yet, he fights to go there. It seems small, but you can't tell me that's not Charlie on Flight 815 right there.

If you haven't read the series then I won't ruin the ending. It's pretty much the whole reason to read the thing. But, I will say this, if Lost is anything like the ending of the Dark Tower Series, then well, gosh I can't really say it without ruining the book. Let's just say that there will be people that are right about their predictions.

When he fled the Dharma village and was approached by Miles Dad, he still had it. I'm sure its in the van.

I also liked how they showed there is a difference between pre-determined and choice.
This is a theme that has been going on all season long. Are they destined to be on the island and make the choices that they have? So far, every time they try to change something, it stays the same. You get the sense that nobody has a choice and this is just the way it is.

But Jacob points out that this is inaccurate. Everything that has occurred was decided by people's own decisions. That's why he tells Ben that it's his choice to stay or go. It's up to him. But in the end he kills Jacob, which I'm sure he knew would happen. Even though Jacob knew how it would end up, it was still a free will decision by Ben that led to that path.

It's a "Vs." Fest on Lost. Science vs. Faith. Destiny vs. Free Will. Good vs. Evil.

I agree, though. Jacob acknowledges free will. Everyone has a choice. That, however, does not mean that destiny does not exist. If you don't view time as linear, you can say that everything is written, but that which is written had been decided on at some point. It's just everyone living out the path they've already willingly chose to follow.

I'm afraid to keep going because unfortunately Lost is showing us that it is throwing in a lot of religion and that talk is against TOS. How far could we go in discussing this? It seems like a balancing act. I would hope a mod realizes that we're only speaking about religion on the show and not our own personal belief.

All I can think of is it was used to help recreate the original plane scene as close as possible like Eloise told them to.

And when they got back to the island after the flash Hurley didn't drown in the lake because he was saved if you will by the guitar case he was floating with.

I read the first 3 books of that series but I know the ending.
And I think that's exactly what's going to happen in Lost too.

I can see this happening, but the key inclusion in the Dark Tower Book VII is an added piece of inventory.

Not sure how that would play out on Lost, but either way, I think that sort of ending will not please many people, me included. Unless, as I've said before, they can make a lot of sense out of it and that would be Lost's Horn of Eld.

That's it, I'm calling it that from now on. What is Lost's Horn of Eld?

You may be right. Hurley had to be Charlie too. But the Losties were instructed to get the passengers as close as possible to the original 815. Just seems like this was something Jacob specifically wanted back on the island but couldn't bring it there himself. We'll see.

And for the guys that are relating this to the Stephen King Series.....I didn't read it but may pick that up now. Don't you think the writers are just guiding you down that path and then are going to pull a suprise ending out at the end? That would seem to be more of their MO.

I don't know, but I think it would be to help be a protector.

I think what we basically witnessed was a race to Jacob. Had the group gotten there first, they would have thrown down with the Locke impersonator on the beach. I wonder if there are tunnels under the statue. If not there could be a confrontation very early in season 7.

Of course I think there will be mass panic if they find out what just happened. No telling how they will react. The entity they report to is "dead". Could have some strange effects on these people.

Yeah, it sure sounds like that's what this show is leaning towards.
It's going to be a very delicate discussion here because of it. But as long as everyone's mature about it there should be no issues.
Afterall, almost every single action TV show or movie is about good vs evil. It's just that Lost is using a lot of religious symbols as motivation for it's characters.

Back on topic. I guess that place where Ben spoke with the smoke montster is where "The Man in Black" lives. And that hieroglyph of the god-dog thingy nealing before the peg board where smokey comes out of isn't supposed to indicate that their buddies or one works with the other.

P.S. I just love how when they first show Jacob he's weaving a rug. They show how intricate it is and how much time and patience is required to complete the project.
It's no different than him weaving the tale of the island and making sure all the pieces are in place before the end result is revealed.
