Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Watchmen was just kind of meh to me since I didn't really like the characters that spent a lot of time on the screen and that relationship. Rorschach was pretty bad ***, though.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Rorschach was the best thing about the movie. But I do have a question about the movie.
SpoilerWhy did Dr. Manhattan kill Rorschach at the end?"Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."

SpoilerHe couldn't afford letting Rorschach tell the world the truth about the SQUIDs going off by a hand other than Dr. Manhattan's to salvage peace on earth.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
SpoilerNobody would have believed him and he knew it. I think Rorschach knew the Watchmen were over, and "he" died when he murdered the rapist. And as he stated in the interrogation room. (A Pretty Butterfly) He had no life left. All Rorschach knew was the world where he was "needed"And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
It was too long imo at 3 hours and with the Ultimate Edition coming in December which adds the entire Black Freighter story, I can see this clocking in at over 3.5+ hours. Watchmen wasn't bad, but what I didn't care for was the constant flashbacks, it kind of threw things off.........but from my understanding that the series was written the same way. It stayed true to its source.SpoilerHonestly I could have done without the love thing. I didn't care and it wasn't interesting and far too much. I think that kind of killed the tempo of the movie for me.Comment

(A Pretty Butterfly) He had no life left. All Rorschach knew was the world where he was "needed"SpoilerHe didn't want to compromise his ideals even for the "greater good" so to say. He believed in something as simple as the truth and refused to let anyone or anything stand in the way of that belief.
He knew he couldn't keep that a secret, and it didn't matter if people believed him or not, what he knew was the truth, which is why he asked Manhattan to end his life this way he would die never turning his back on his "sense of justice"
At least that's what i got from him
On topic: just finished Get Smart, an enjoyable movie. Steve Carrol is one funny guy. Don't know why it took this long for me to see this, but i'm catching up on the movies i've missed. Next is Never Back Down

Never Back Down is hilarious and the main guy looks exactly like Tom Cruise.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
We take another trip in the wayback machine to 1932 to watch a solid little Monogram film Klondike starring Thelma Todd (best known today for her comedic work for the Hal Roach Studios) and Lyle Talbot (probably best known for his appearances on Ozzie and Harriet and being in 3 Ed Wood films. Interestingly, 3 of his kids are journalists, one of whom is the founder and editor of Salon.com) Here's the plot:
Dr. Robert Cromwell performs a delicate operation, that has never been done before, and the patient dies. Charged with malpractice and manslaughter, his trial is national news but the jury acquits him. But the court of public opinion is still against him, and the medical board is meeting to decide whether or not to take his medical license away from him. Before they do, Cromwell, an amateur pilot, decides to join his friend, WWI Ace Donald Evans, on a flight to Alaska looking for a shorter route to Japan by following the Aleutian Islands. They crash in Alaska and Evans is killed, but Cromwell is rescued by a fur trapper named Tom Ross. He takes Cromwell to Armstrong's Trading Post, where he is nursed back to health by Klondike, a girl who works for Armstrong, and was engaged to marry Armstrong's son Jim. The latter is suffering from the same disease that Cromwell's last patient had. Mark talks Cromwell into performing the same operation again and, this time, it is a success. Or would have been if Jim hadn't decided to fake it being a failure
The supporting actors do a great job as well. The one i'd like to spotlight is Frank Hawks who plays Dr. Cromwell's aviation friend. Hawks' dialogue and manner of speaking was SO authentic and believable as well it should as he was a real life WWI flyer and racing pilot! Tragically Hawks would die in ironic fashion in a slow and safe Gavin Aircar.
One last thing to note, as you can tell from the plot Jim fakes the success of the surgery because he overhears how Cromwell and Klondike are in love and how he and Cromwell will likely have to fight for her affections once he gets better....Anyways Jim concocts a scheme and the oldest and most cliche act of undoing was committed (the whole vilain tells good guy the whole plan) perhaps this was cliche even back then?
Anyways this is a solid 3 star film IMO.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
