127 Hours - James Franco did a great job. I loved how it showed the psychological toll of being in that position takes as well as the physical toll. I also enjoyed the various camera angles and the direction of the movie.

Saw Taken II...sorry, I mean Unknown.
It was decent. Had its thrilling moments. Kept you involved, but I found the reasoning for all of this happening to Liam Neeson a bit underwhelming. Then again, it's better than the usual conspiracy garbage you get in most of these films.
If you like thrillers, watch it. If you don't, stay away from it.
Also, it is a bit slow at times. Lots of background that needs to be covered so the film does jump in and out of fast pace to slow down back to fast pace. It kinda breaks a rule by slowing everything down to explain what's going on.
One last thing: It doesn't have the killer line like in Taken - "...I will kill you." But, Liam does good with his, "I didn't forget everything." Guy delivers those lines well.
edit: Here's the whole bit from Taken because it's so awesome:
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."Last edited by CMH; 03-02-2011, 01:46 PM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. My Soul To Take- This was just bad. It feels like Wes Craven wrote this as the movie went along. I think the plot was suppose to be complicating but it came off as a mess. It reminded me of a bad 90's teen slasher flick. There was also a weird high school subplot that was not interesting at all.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Hatchet 2. Let's just say the excessive blood and gore couldn't even save this movie. It was actually so over the top that I found myself laughing a few times. Bad movie."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Bambi - I grew up watching a bunch of the Disney movies on VHS and Bambi is one of the few I never actually watched as a kid. The blu-ray of this film is gorgeous. There is actual depth to the animations and backgrounds, it is really something to see. I cannot imagine how long this took to animate and film.
The movie itself is kind of like any good Disney movie - characters that you become somewhat attached to, some good musical segments, and you end up hating yourself and the rest of the species by the time its over. What that said, I still think Pinocchio is the most ****ed up Disney movie, but Bambi is close.

Winter's Bone- A movie about a 17 year old girl with an ill mother and 2 younger siblings who tries to find her drug dealing father who has been missing and has an upcoming court date. It has a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and won a Sundance Film Festival award but I found it boring. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood to watch it but I barely made it through the movie awake. The acting was solid but the pace of the film and the story just didn't do it for me.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Well I finally saw Toy Story 3. This is a bit of a tough movie to grade in the sense that I think it was an artistic triumph in some ways and the story REALLY spoke to me at times however it was far TOO dark of a film for the target audience. Actually the kiddie audience wouldn't have much to laugh about in this movie. It almost seems like the Pixar guys decided to go for the audience that saw all the movies AND older kids/people in general. I do think some of the action scenes (the sunnyside daycare escape) would appeal to the younger ones but then they go a bit over the line what with Buzz Lightyear being strapped down and turned into demo mode and the whole incinerator segment later on.
That being said I think this was a great capper to the trilogy and was from start to finish probably the best film in terms of sticking to its theme and without compromise to the story for certain sensitivities
SpoilerThe scene where Lotso doesn't push the button to turn off the incinerator
The whole theme espoused about growing up and the toys realizing that it may be the end of the road with Andy was touching to me. I really loved how Woody fought to show his pals how Andy DID care for them even though he was going off to college and the whole ending which I won't spoil for those who may not have seen the movie put me to tears a bit. I admit it! I'm a bit of a sap damnit!
The movie did have some funny scenes and such though I wish they expanded on the Mr. Potato Head attaching his parts to different food. I think that would've been hilarious. I also found the Buzz Lightyear "spanish mode" segment quite funny as well. So while this movie was a too dark for the the little ones I think it spoke quite well to those who grew up watching the Toy Story movies and to the folks in their 30s who took their little ones to this flick. This movie gets a huge recommendation from me and it's the perfect way to end the Trilogy.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Tron: Legacy- 8.7
Pretty cool movie. I saw the original a long long time ago, can't really remember it too much but this one did a good job on touching bases with that before getting involved in its own story.
The special effects were awesome, except for "Clue." Wow did he look terrible. With the CGI we have today, why did he look soo bad?Comment
