Black Mass - Story about Southie's Whitey Bulger played by JOhnny Depp. Probably the first Johnny Depp movie I've seen in a while that hasn't sucked. I'll give him credit, when he dives into a character he goes all-in and this time he nailed it.

The Secret Life of Pets - Probably couldn't watch 2 more opposite movies in a span of 48 hours but took my 2yr old to see it. It was OK and tbh, Kevin Hart's character saved the movie. I'm kind of over his antics, but in this role it came off pretty well.

      Yeah Frontier(s) is great

I didn't know Loved Ones is on Netflix. I love that movie, I've seen it three times. That's a fun ride

Yea that combo is definitely one of the most different I have read posted here in awhile. I just got Black Mass on Blu-Ray last weekend, really looking forward to checking it out. And I heard great things about Depp in this role.

Houdini (1953) Ehhhh.....Not so great but the novelty of having the newly married Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh co-starring in the leading roles does help as you can tell they were truly in love with one another. The movie isn't bad per se but there really isn't that much drama to it. I do like that they reproduced a lot of the tricks that Houdini did but the ending soured me a little as they went with a fictionalized dramatic ending rather than the historical cause of his death. At least they did play lip service to the actual cause (appendicitis) in the final scene.

The movie just "sits there" as something to pass the time rather than to be fully engaged with ** stars.

At that time Tony Curtis was pulling off something Houdini never did..."walking on air".

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

The Family went and saw Ghostbusters (in 3D) yesterday afternoon. I went in with no expectations and quite frankly was shocked they did a reboot (never thought it would be re done as the original was good enough).

I am a fan of the original, thought the sequel sucked and that was that. Yeah it spawned a Saturday morning cartoon war (remember their was two cartoons and one was called The Real Ghostbusters LOL) and some toys and what not, but I never considered this a franchise.

Color me blind....I really enjoyed this movie. The girls had me on the floor laughing. So many funny lines and scenes. They really did a great job of not taking this seriously at all and this is a great, campy, summer popcorn flick. The kids will love it. The 3D was great. Just a good time at the movies.

Kate McKinnon IMO stole this movie along with Chris Hemsworth. Both of them were consistent scene stealers. Mcarthy and Wiig (I love her) were also on point. Leslie Jones was solid as well.

A pleasant surprise for me. Had a smile on my face leaving the theater.

I think all four of the ladies are great in the film. I personally think the movie is legit awful but that awfulness has nothing to do with the cast. Great cast.

World of Warcraft. Well that was pretty horrible.

The Big Short (again). Well that was pretty amazing.

Does it have good rewatchability? Loved it in theaters, but can't find myself seeing it again and being edutained.

Absolutely. The education side of it remained for me as my finance acumen has always sucked. It's good to know that the field has just been primarily using bull**** terminology, so I don't feel quite as dumb....just fooled.

The presentation analogies and visual snipets to quickly display the signs of the times were brillliant.

The performances themselves remain awesome. I especially like as the sleeper actor, Jeremy Strong (far left). I loved him in The Judge and his expanse between this and that would have me believe he's done more, but not really. If I was a casting director I would try to fit him in wherever I could.
