    The Purge...... Eh.

Great idea. Solid build up. Falter in the execution. So-so flick.

Iron Man 3 - Thought it was decent

Fast 6- Great action, crazy ending.

Now you see me - Doesn't make much sense, but it still is one of the best movies this summer.

Taken: this was an awesome movie. Liam Neeson was a straight bad ***.

I'm scared to watch part II as I've heard from you guys it wasn't that good.

I hated that movie so I didn't care to watch part 2. It just seems so fake because he's freakin untouchable. So unrealistic.

I can see your point. Didn't seem like he faced any real resistance. I still thought the movie was good though.

              Before Midnight.

Very well done. Performances were amazing - especially given there are a couple of scenes that are one shot and seem like they are 10min or more.

of the trilogy this one is the most different and feels darker and more real. I just saw the first 2 in the past month and a half - and although I'm sure some would deem these chick flicks, to me the simplicity and execution is a pretty big feat. It's also extremely unique - what other film has the same 2 main characters (same actors) separated by almost a decade per movie - and the characters have aged the same within the story?

I had a good conversation about it afterwards and the movie more than anything shows WHY life can be so complicated and nothing is wrong or right.

Saw a couple of movies recently:

                Identity Thief
Had a few funny moments but as seems the case with a lot of comedies these days, it carried on for far too long. I liked the Bateman-McCarthy pairing, though.

                Guilt Trip
Finally, a comedy that didn't push the 2-hour barrier! I wasn't really into watching this movie but gave it a chance and wound up really liking it. Rogen and Streisand were great together and pretty much any son can relate to the "motherly advice" given so frequently by Streisand's character. Short and sweet, this 95-minute film is worth watching.

                  Riffraff (1947)

                  Plot summary

A plane takes off from Peru (in a long no-dialogue scene) in a storm with two passengers; it lands in Panama with one. The missing man had valuable oil-location maps; everyone who is after them must deal with Dan Hammer, combination private eye, agent, and con man, who can "fix" anything for a fee. Nightclub singer Maxine is on Dan's side... or is she? The rest is lighthearted, white-suited tropical intrigue.
This is a VERY solid B level private eye flick starring the unlikely Pat O'Brien. He did a great job considering he didn't have the profile of a tough private eye but he exudes confidence in his role. This is one of those movies that require a bit of attention when watching it as there's some intrigue. Walter Slezak does a great Sydney Greenstreet impression but adding his own personal touch as the menacing villain who in outward appearance doesn't seem to be much of a threat.

The only real problem with the movie is the map....

                  Spoiler

                  Anywho a solid 3 stars.

Ive seen a bunch of stuff recently..

Oblivion- Thought it was decent, im a sucker for sci fi though so..yeah. Saw that a lot of folks didnt like it

Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore (Animated)- Good flick, story and the art style were enjoyable

Oz the Great and Powerful- Decent visuals and the acting was pretty good.Story was really cheesy though, but i guess that was to be expected.

Broken Kingdom- A lot of hate out there for this movie for some reason. I dug it though.

Good Day to Die Hard- Over the top, non stop action, as with any other Die Hard movie. Fun watch for me

Started watching Jack the Giant Slayer but i fell asleep. Not the movies fault lol

Yeah, comedies have tried to get longer and longer. It's a trend that has worked well for action and dramatic movies, but doesn't with comedies very often. Comedies should be 90-110 minutes with a few exceptions.

They also need to stop dropping the comedy 2/3s of the way in to make it into a drama.

Epic 3D. Nice adventure movie for kids. Reminded me of the 'Honey I shrunk the kids' movies.

                          The Big Lebowski A classic.

I have seen a few in the past few days.

                            The Great Gatsby
Really good movie and even the sountrack worked. I was worried when I heard they were going to use updated music but it fit pretty well. The party scenes were fantastic as were the costumes. DiCaprio was amazing in it and played the character really well. MUCH MUCH better than the Robert Redford version which put me to sleep when I tried to watch it. It's a pretty long movie but worth the watch.

                            Warm Bodies
I love zombie movies and even though this was pretty much a chick flick, I thought it was well done. Not very long and it was a good movie. Loved the Zombie reference with the DVD in the movie.

                            Oz The Great And Powerful
This looked like one we should have seen in 3D in the theater. I read that the character of Oz was written for either Robert Downey Jr or Johnny Depp and neither were able to sign on for it. James Franco came to Sam Raimi and asked him if he could be in it and he agreed. Franco was probably the weak link in this but overall it was ok.
