    Any particular reason you haven't?

The first one is Point Break on wheels, and the fifth one is Ocean's Eleven on wheels. A bit more high octane, but from the third one on, they consistently had one director working on all of them. They're good stuff, especially that first one if you're not just looking for action or whatever. Rob Cohen captured the early 2000's LA suburbian vibe perfectly IMO.

I've only seen the first F&F movie. And that was, god, it was when it came out. I don't even remember it.

I'm not a car guy. So movies where cars are, in part, the star don't really appeal all that much to me.

The last two have had fairly little to do with cars, and are turning more mainstream (I'd say the fifth was the most mainstream though).

The cars haven't meant **** all since the 3rd one and the 2nd is easily the worst of them so if you start with the 4th you'll be fine.

            Robot and Frank

Charming movie. Had no clue what to expect going in. Came away feeling like it was 90 minutes well spent.

Just never had much interest, as at first it was marketed as cars and action which honestly doesn't appeal to much as a movie. I kinda want to see some of the new ones, but I have no desire to watch them all.

                      Kick-*** 2

Thankfully, I've been very good at avoiding trailers/spots for films that I have my eye on. It lets me know nothing going into it, and even preconceived notions (about roles and plot) are always misconstrued from the little bit that I do see or hear. This film was no different.

You won't be a fan of this one if you weren't a fan of the first one. I think most people who gave the first one a chance and ended up being turned off was when Hit Girl showed up, which separated who would like it from who wouldn't. Most people liked it... and most people will like this one.

It's not as vibrant and humorous. In fact, it takes a somewhat brooding turn like The Dark Knight from Batman Begins. Not comparing KA2 to TDK at all, but just saying that you'll get more moments that are geared away from the lighthearted feel than not. It kind of was a dark movie with satirical overtones. Bunch of people in costumes? Yeah, some things just can't be avoided.

One thing I thought they did really well was get a bunch of characters their due time and joining what seemed to be a bit disjoint for the first half of the film. Every main character had their own "subplot" that fit well with the overall story, and aside from one of them, none of it seemed too forced out of what the first film brought.

Neither of the next two things can't come off sounding weird so you might as well take it at face value if you can't see past what I mean, but Aaron Johnson is a beast and Chloë Grace Moretz is a stunner. Jim Carrey wasn't exactly a "scene-stealer" per se, but I loved seeing him on screen FWIW. The only downside to the casting was that Marcus and Todd were portrayed by different actors. Kind of threw things off a bit.

You'll get the action the other one had. It will be more martial-artsy but will definitely have its arcadish violence and gore alongside it. Definitely some of those shots will occur when you let out that "OOOOHHH!" as someone gets stabbed, shot, and/or killed a certain way, and that's what always makes it fun to watch a movie like this at the cinema.

RT has Kick-*** at 77% and Kick-*** 2 at 28%. I can agree with the former, but simply can't agree with the latter. This should be no lower than 65% IMO, and ranks up there with the first one, though it's tougher to be as original, shocking, or impactful as the other one was. Obviously no Nic Cage is unfortunate as well, who truly was a scene-stealer. Not as good as the first, but I definitely want to see it again. Maybe I'll wait for the Blu-ray, though. I think the biggest thing going against it is that it's almost no longer a super hero parody; yeah, within the film it looks like one, but that feel has left the young franchise already.

EDIT: Oh, and there's a post-credits scene. It's not big and flashy, but enough to make you think a KA3 will probably be made someday.

Blzer I kinda skimmed through your post (i'm not the biggest fan of the KA franchise both the comics and movies due to Mark Millar) but how did Jim Carrey do in this? Before he made his comments about how he regrets making the movie it was hoped that this would be a springboard to get his career back on track.

Ultimately, he had a lot less screen time than I hoped. He was good, though. I feel like if anybody else played him though, I wouldn't have really cared about the performance itself. Though, part of it is since I know him, his roles, and how different he was in this from how he normally is, I thought it was pretty stunning. Plus, I love Jim Carrey.

That's partly why Nicolas Cage was so great in the first film, but he got considerably more screen time, and as I said, Cage stole more scenes he was in for sure. Carrey didn't get enough "me" time to separate himself from some of the others in his scenes. I almost wish he did.

I think he has more diversity than his offered roles allow for him to show, so maybe that's what he meant. There's just not enough of him, though. I'm willing to bet an extended cut exists out there somewhere that we'll see with more Carrey, though.

Well, as I said, think the same about Kick-*** 2. Undoubtedly there will be hilarity throughout the scenes, but that is no longer the core of the film. That's why I think critics had a problem with it.
