Man on the moon was amazing to me because I never saw Jim....only Andy. He was that good, IMO.

Seriously Carrey should've won an Oscar for that movie. He WAS Andy Kaufman. I was too young to see Kaufman back in the day but i've seen enough old SNL and Taxi to know that Carrey was completely in sync with who Kaufman was.

      Anywho.....

      Son of Godzilla (1967)

Better than I thought it would be going in. Don't let some of the goofy trappings fool you. This is pretty good for what it was and it had one of the more sadder endings in the Godzilla series.

Another of his serious roles, the Number 23. I love that movie.

I like that it was a serious role of his, but I didn't like the movie much.

I'll take that back, I liked it just fine. I liked the narration and everything, but the "coincidences" were too much of adding numbers together. I don't mind math, but when it's always addition, it's really pushing it. I even think I instantly noticed the dog (must've been named Ned) added up to 23 if you assign each letter to its number.

Never did see it again, though. Maybe the next time I do, it will be less focused on that damn number lol.

That's actually what I liked most about it. That's the mindset of someone who lives their life by that.. they literally see the number in everything possible. I think it captured that really well.

Oh, it definitely did. I just wished they did more than a bunch of addition over and over. The rest was pretty good.

EDIT: I just noticed my original post is twenty-three words long.

Les Miserables: A triumph. Hopper really just lets the show be the show, and he should have; the performances here were beautiful, especially from Jackman and Hathaway.

Saw " Your Next" with the girlfriend this afternoon. I the beginning of it reminded me to why I hate these types of movies again. People act to unrealistic. My goodness, if someone is attacking you, would you just stand there in a room panicking waiting to die, or would you pull yourself together knowing your life is hanging by a thread

I will say this though, halfway through once the movie changed it's flow and story, everything made a lot more sense and some of the earlier decisions that made me so angry were acceptable. I'm so glad the "girlfriend" was able to act like a sane person who was put in a really crappy situation.

Overall the movie was fine, once things started to get going and it became more of a thriller than a suspense movie, it lost all of it's frightfulness but still ended pretty well.

                      Navy Secrets (1939)

Just a dreadful poverty row flick with a premise that's actually pretty strong but the underlying stupidity that serves as the storytelling engine for this flick completely kills it. It's gotten my worst rating in a loooong time.

Finally saw Hot Fuzz last night. It was okay but not nearly as good as Shaun Of The Dead, IMO. Then stupidly stayed up until 4 AM watching Natural Born Killers. Hadn't seen that in a long while.

Agreed. A lot of people think Hot Fuzz is the better movie, but I don't think it's even close. The first five minutes of HF made me think "Hell yeah," but it simply got too weird and just wasn't as funny. Every time I re-watch it, I'm hoping there is something I missed out on that will make me like it more than the previous time, but I'm just not seeing it.

Still love the movie, but it's not nearly on the same level as Shaun of the Dead.

                            Destroy All Monsters (1968)

I admit this wasn't my strongest written review as I was a bit distracted when writing it. I may revisit it down the line and write a better review....

Anywho, this was AWESOME! Almost all the big name monsters from Toho are in this flick in a huge monster mash as there's an alien invasion and they're mind controlled by said aliens. This was originally intended to be the last ever Godzilla movie but because of it's popularity they continued on with the films. This flick also has a pretty bad *** and intense fight with King Ghidorah as well.

Strong plot, good acting and great use of the monsters make this the best Godzilla movie aside from the original Godzilla that i've seen so far *****!

                              Saw Riddick.

Slept through some of the set up, not sure that would have salvaged what seemed like just a kinda flat popcorn flick. Appreciated R-level gore though rather then skimping on it for a pg-13.
