Ex Machina: more interesting to think about than to watch. Not a movie I plan on seeing again, but it's a solid viewing.

Collateral: Tom Cruise gets cast out-of-character as a contract killer and forces a taxi driver to take him from spot-to-spot as he goes through his hit list. Really enjoyed it.

Predestination: very cool time-travel flick. Recommended.

Big Hero 6. Nothing good is on TV on Saturday nights. So I decided to go to On Demand and find a movie to watch from the movie package and I came along this movie and remembered hearing it was supposed be very good. And it didn't disappoint. I think Disney hit the nail on the head with this hero flick. I loved it because it was different than the superhero flicks I have watched before. I haven't watched any of these animated movies such as the Batman ones, JL, etc. But back to Big Hero 6. I felt bad for Hiro throughout the movie because of the trauma he was going through. I recommend this to those who haven't already seen it. It's a good breather to the other superhero movies out there.

I saw Mr. Holmes and liked it. Finally a good-old British style of Holmes, instead of that Hollywood crap.

Very interesting movie, and just like a typical British movie - the acting was superb!

It Follows. What a terrible movie. I have no idea why it got good reviews.

I've seen some British movies with atrocious or at the very least extremely stiff acting.

Typically yes, but I sure haven't seen all British movies. I do know that from what I can remember seeing - movies or TV shows - British acting superb. I do pick my movies and shows, I don't watch anything out there, though. Take it for what it is.

It's more likely that the movies/shows you watch are highly recommended or critically acclaimed, much like myself and westerns or silent films, etc.

If you watch all of them out there, you'll find some mediocre and awful films/acting, like everywhere.

                      Trainwreck

I didn't think it was that funny of a comedy but I did enjoy it more than most romantic comedies. The cameos were good and I liked Hader but it felt long, just like most Apatow films so I was expecting that. Nothing really was outloud funny like the next movie I watched.

I wasn't expecting it to be good but wow, I actually thought it was hilarious. Everytime Jason Statham was on screen I cracked up like crazy. I also thought Rose Byrne was great too. For the most part I don't like Melissa McCarthy but I thought she killed the role and was pretty funny and this to me is her best movie.

Not a movie you take seriously obviously. Jude Law wasn't good but what made the movie for me was McCarthy's chemistry between Byrne and Statham. They had hilarious scenes together.

I still am curious why some other OS'ers liked it so much. I like to turn to YMS on YouTube for more objectivity at times, and he pretty much said what I did regarding it:

I liked it because it made me laugh throughout the entire movie. It was well written, it starred people I liked, there were cameos by people who I had no idea could act, and it was relatively original. It was pretty damn rom-commy at the end, but I didn't mind that at all. Why people enjoy movies doesn't have to be so damn complicated.

Southpaw- 4.5/5. Gyllenhall is jacked in this. Anyways, good movie. With the exception of Training Day, Fuqua is pretty miss for me as a director, but this is my 2nd favorite of his films by a wide margin. I'd put it on par with Warrior, much better than the vastly overrated 'The Fighter'.

Divergent Insurgent- 2/5. I actually thought the first one was decent, but this one was super cheesy.

Blackhat- 3.5/5. I dont understand why all reviewers hated this movie. I was entertained, didn't find much of anything wrong with it. A solid Mann film.

Ex Machina- 4/5. I was intrigued throughout, cool ending. Not something I plan to watch again, but was worth watching once for sure. Oscar Isaac is really blowing up right now.

Saw Vacation this afternoon. I didn't think it was terrible, but it is obviously not the original.

Definitely some funny moments but there were plenty of moments that just seemed too ridiculous to me.

Well any opinion, especially about "art", is still subjective. But I agree.... I lasted about 10-15 mins. and had about enough. You could just tell it wasn't going anywhere. I guess the more current trend is to highlight the chicks who can act like Neanderthal guys. Does nothing for me (never did). Not wasting my time with generally untalented, unprofessionally done movies any longer.
