Going to the movies for one person here in Canada (and i'm sure it's the same in the US) is roughly 35 bucks if you count the movie ticket and concessions. I AM NOT going to flush almost 40 dollars down the drain on the off chance that a movie is going to be good. I go to maybe one or two movies in the theatre per year.

Yea that's why, if I really want to see a movie I look for it online and download it or wait until it comes out on Blu Ray. It's too damn expensive. I mean my town's recreation dept. does do discounted tickets, I think they are like $8 but you are still close $20 after buying popcorn, drinks, maybe a box of candy. And I don't want to spend that type of money on something that might be good. I have no problem spending that money on a Blu Ray because I can watch it more than once. And this I have only been to the theater once that I can remember, which was to see Ted 2 with my dad when I had a day off from class.

I will never buy food at the movie theater.

The popcorn is good though! Well "good" in the sense that it's super buttery and clogs arteries LOL

I've been using Redbox like a fiend. Eventually ended up signing up for their emails, and there's always a promo code for some sort of deal. 2 for 1, 50 cents off, etc.

If you're disciplined and take back your movie, it's only $1.50 or so per day.

Saw The Force Awakens. Loved it. Won't go too much more into detail. I do like how they left so much of the backstories of characters as yet open.

Reminds me of A New Hope. We didn't even get to connect the Skywalker dots till the very end of Empire. That part is very well done. Sadly, I will probably see it 2 or 3x more times in the theater. Need to get to some Dbox seats.

                Popcorn or nothing for me.

When I saw Star Wars it was 11.25 for a ticket, then 17 for 2 bottles of water and a medium popcorn. I've wasted 28 bucks on a lot worse ****.

Ashleigh bought herself a (I'm assuming medium sized) popcorn and drink. It was $12.75 - more than a single ticket.

In the cinema I saw what looked like two dads with their young sons. Each son walked in with nachos, popcorn, and drinks. Cha-ching, baby.

Bad Santa. Never saw it. Never should have seen it. Turned it off. Pure trash. Didn't see one ounce of comedy in it. Thornton at his worst.

Fred Clause. I'm going to say something unpopular around here, but I like this better than Elf. I think it's the ending. I never got into the ending on Elf, but the ending in Fred Clause when the elves are gathering around the giant globe and watching those kids open the presents to "Silent Night".... really heart-warming. I know overall Ferrell has some great funny scenes, but I'm just saying overall as a movie, just my preference.

Yeah, I pretty much never buy food or popcorn at the theater. I'll sometimes get a soda. But even that is pretty rare.

Same here. Watched American Ultra, Man from UNCLE, Trainwrecked, MI: Rogue , Selfless. Man from UNCLE. was easily the best of bunch.

I don't understand why movies cost so much elsewhere. The AMC I go to is $10 without my military discount and its reserved seating and you get a sofa that reclines.

It's a lot closer to Quantum that Casino or Skyfall to me. It's still a good movie, but not great. I did think Batista was really good considering he says one word in the film.
