Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show

Haha, this is so epic. Love seeing Jay and the bonehead bigwigs at NBC dragged through the mud. About damn time. That dude being one the air on The Tonight Show again is just gonna be awkward... there will be "I'm With CoCo" protestors outside the studios every night probably haha.

Props to Kimmel and the rest for going hard at dude and not letting up. Anyone who thinks Leno has ANYTHING in him to go after these guys is kidding themselves, dude hasn't been funny in 20 years and his wit has withered away to nothing... those Conan jabs were horrendous and probably were written by his writers.

Also, I love how Conan turns it on and steps it up whenever something crazy is happening. The writer's strike was the first time that was on display, but this is even better.

This stuff is silly man. If you're really playing in your mind that Jay didnt know what was going to happen in that interview you're being silly.

People rejoicing over a guy getting smashed by the mouth of someone else is even worse.

The amazing thing is some of these hacks who are so called supporters didnt even watch Conan's show for support. Its just laughable.

To see people going on like they have stock in a show they didnt even care about til now.

Of course he knew, and he was not able to mount any kind of real defense, because he's indefensible right now. It's hilarious. He had it coming.

            Defense?

Why would he need to defend something he OK'd?

As I said, all of this ridiculous gawking over the entire thing is crazy

He knew something was coming after asking him directly about the impersonation from the other night, but if you guys think he knew he was about to be called out for having $800 million and be compared to a stripper on his own show, I don't know what to say. The uncomfortable silence said it all.

There will be some highly entertaining books written about this one day.

I don't think Leno thought the Kimmel segment would end up the way it did. Not in front of his face and on his show. He was awkward, and did nothing that says it was something he saw coming. The last question was even meant to kind of poke at Kimmel for using this whole situation to promote his own show, but was done poorly.

The interview was hyped, and Kimmel has his own show. Anything edited out would have only blown up into an even bigger deal. So Leno just laughed it off.

NBC is missing a golden opportunity to have a joke-off or something of the sort in primetime. Can you imagine the ratings?

You could tell Kimmel went a little farther than Leno thought he might. Leno looked pretty dang uncomfortable listening to Kimmel. If he knew Kimmel would bash him the way he did, I doubt he would have had him on at all...especially with the hit Leno's rep has taken over the past week.

At this point it doesnt matter, it could've easily been a matter of Jay not being able to say alot because of his lawyers telling him not to say much
After he just signed this new contract.

I dont think he OK'd it. It wasnt like there was a script. He knew that Jimmy would take shots at him but I promise you he didnt think the last 6 answers were all going to be vicious shots at him.

Watch the clip again. Jimmy doesnt go after him until Jay makes the crack about 12 at 12.

See I think it does matter. Why have Kimmel on at all in the first place if he's just going to bash Leno? What's the point?

Conan's jokes towards NBC and Leno have been digs, but nothing over the top. Kimmel's were less comedic and more personal shots at Leno right to his face. I doubt Leno really needs more of that right now, especially when he'll be competing with both Letterman and Kimmel again.

I really think (and honestly hope) that the *new* Tonight Show is a ratings disaster for NBC. Leno has sure taken a lot of flack for this, whether it's his fault or not. Not sure if it will be, but I wonder how Leno will do with Fallon following him rather than Conan.

I think he knew good and well Kimmel would take some digs at him... to what extent I dont know.

As far as the ratings and so on, its not my issue, I just dont see the need for all of the gawking and gloating at someone taking continual shots at someone else.

To me its getting more over the top than what those guys are doing. Like I said, for all of these people claiming conan rules they sure didnt support him in the ratings before this incident.

Most of those people dont have Nielsen boxes.

Why Advertisers and Networks rely on Neilsen ratings is way beyond my comprehension. Nielsen tracks approximately 26,000 households. How exactly is using a sample size of 0.02% of American households an accurate measurement?
