Re: *** Lost: Season 6 (Final Season) ***

I'm just praying the end isn't ridiculous; like it was all a dream or in someone's mind.
Or worse yet, they don't bother to explain half the riddles they've introduced.
I want to know what the smoke monster is, what the numbers symbolize, how Richard doesn't age, where did the Others really come from and how long,...etc.

The numbers was revealed in The Lost Experience (this was basically an online game between Seasons 2 and 3).

      From Lostpedia:

It has been revealed in The Lost Experience that these six numbers are the core values of the Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula designed to predict the end of humanity. The numbers in actuality are said to represent human and environmental factors in the equation (given numerical form), though their precise meaning is uncertain. One purpose of the DHARMA Initiative was to change the factors leading to humanity's demise, which will be indicated by an alteration in at least one of the human/environmental factors - i.e. the numbers. However, in all its years of research, the Initiative failed to reach its goal. Despite much research and manipulation of the equation's values, the end result was always the numbers.

In an interview with E! in 2009, Damon stated the following in regards to the Numbers: "Here's the story with numbers. The Hanso Foundation that started the Dharma Initiative hired this guy Valenzetti to basically work on this equation to determine what was the probability of the world ending in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Valenzetti basically deduced that it was 100 percent within the next 27 years, so the Hanso Foundation started the Dharma Initiative in an effort to try to change the variables in the equation so that mankind wouldn't wipe it itself out."

        Thank you very much.
But how does it explain how those numbers won Hurley the lottery?

I think it's still implied that the main characters from Oceanic 815 were 'chosen' to come to the island. So was someone behind rigging the lottery so Hurley would win the money?

          Timeline on NY Times.

Listen to the audio clips. Good information from Cuse and Lindeloff.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I think this is a case where you don't need to dig that deep.

Hurley got the numbers from Leonard when they were at the Mental Institute. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think the numbers are a big deal.

Damon and Carlton have said this final season isn't even going to answer every question because viewers have their own questions that the Producers don't even think are important.

I also stopped caring about the numbers because they really don't mean much at all.

They are part of an equation and that's about it.

We already know how Hurley got the numbers and we know why his crazy friend was reciting them over and over again. It's much like the series: it's just a circular story. One got it from another who got it from the first.

And Hurley winning the lotto could just be coincidence. What does his winning the lottery have to do with him ending up on the Island? I guess you can say he doesn't try to go to Australia to find out the meaning of the Numbers, but you can say that for anyone about anything. Was someone pushing Kate to kill her father? Was someone pushing Walt's mom to die so Michael could pick him up?

              It's coincidence. That's it.

Under 24 hours until the premier.

I have never been this excited for a TV show.

Are we getting a full 3 hours tomorrow, or is it a 2 hour show and a one hour recap?

so, just to get this straight, at 8pm est, the recap show comes on, then at 9pm est the 2-hour season premiere starts?

or at 7 the recap starts and at 8 the 2 hour premiere starts?
