Anyone else notice that MiB's speech to Richard on how to kill Jacob was the exact same speech that Dogan gave Sayid on how to kill MiB (Locke)? Also it looked like the same knife. At that point I was thinking MiB and Jacob are interchangeable. Or maybe its not black and white but shades of gray as someone else had posted?

Why does Jacob fight back against Richard but not against Ben? Because he knows his replacement in ready when Ben kills him?

Is Jacob telling the truth about the story of the Island and MiB?

I'm sure we will see more twist before it is all said and done. For me i just found it silly how a big wave carried the black rock to the middle of the island, yet the next day the water level is low and the island is back to normal. Also showing teh black rock break the statue was a little like "come on really?" to me. I do enjoy the acting and I do enjoy the interacting between Jacob and MIB. I was also disappointed that Richard was only there for 150 years or so. I guess I just felt he was there a lot longer than that. Also when Richard was in jail talking about going to the New World seemed a little disjointed to me. I mean it is 1867, the New World was so new, it just sounded out of place like it would have been OK to say if it was 1667 but not after America had been discovered for over 300 years. Before I get butchered I was just expecting more, more story of Richard working on the island and going to and from the island. Just my opinion.

Amazing episode again last night. IMO one of the best ever.

One thing I noticed... there seems to be a correlation between men of faith and MIB sparing them. We saw it last night with Ricardo and earlier with Ecko.

It seems to be all too perfect that MIB is evil. I can't be the only one that doubts this. It's just so obvious. Add to that Jacob's reaction's to certain things. Taking Ricardo and dunking him in the water?

Is it possible they are both evil, one just holds the other back for whatever reason?

I'm also shocked about the straightforward "we're all dead and in hell" revelation. Would make EVERYTHING in the show plausible if this were the case.

I'm really against this "holding evil in check on the island",since we know evil exists all around the world. What do they mean ? Evil will rule the world as we know it?

Nice when Hurly told Jack so matter of fact the message has nothing to do with you. Almost like Hurly was the "leader" and he told Jack F@#$ off on this one.

The difference seems to be that the knife didn't work on MIB, but it did on Jacob.

I think Jacob fought Richard because he wasn't expecting to be attacked. At the end he seemed surprised when he was speaking to MIB and said something like "You tried to kill me?". From that point on Jacob knows that the MIB will try to kill him. Ben killing him was probably part of Jacob's plan somehow.

I think it is indeed good vs. evil, though there are quite a few shades of gray being thrown in there. MIB just wanting to leave gives him some sympathy, at least until you realize that if he really is evil, having him leave is a very bad thing. The way Jacob reacted to meeting Richard made him seema little less "good". He really beat on him and then dunked him. Some of his looks to Richard made him appear less than holy as well. Still, I believe that overall it is a good vs. evil thing.

Obviously Isabella was the MIB in disguise, since he looked into Richard as the black smoke in their first encounter.

I wished they would have answered how\why Richard visited Locke as a child. That would have been before Ben took over as leader based on the ages of Locke and Ben. That never made sense to me.

I don't think the boat was a continuity error. It was either not the same boat, or it the storm started suddenly (which we've seen before). Plus, the boat wasn't THAT close to the island when we first saw it. It could have very easily taken them another couple of hours to get to get to shore.

MIB was talking to two individuals who were kidnapped by the others early on in Season 2 when he said, "You're with me now." Would never have known that if it weren't for the blurbs of info.

Well, Im starting to get the impression that its more of Not bad vs Evil as opposed to good vs Evil.

Think of it as a prison guard and an Inmate. The inmate is obviously bad or "evil" and did something that got him the label of inmate or "bad guy".

Now think about the prison guard, he wasnt perfect and he didn't do "so much good" that he elevated himself to prison guard. He simply took a job, and his job is to not let the prisoner out.

Now image this prisoner and prison guard are on an island all by themselves and instead of a taser and pepper spray, the prison guard can bring people to the island and do some magical stuff.

thats my take. Jacob isnt like god or an angel, but he is not evil either, he is just the guy who is in charge of the island. One of the Losties will soon be taking over and they will "take the keys" to the cell.

All I know is that I cannot wait until we finally get the Jacob/MiB back-story. If there is an episode centered around those two, with how well they each play their role and portray the characters, that may very well be my favorite episode of Lost...and I really don't care if any of the Losties are actually in it.
