Nope. Desmond was in the hatch pressing the stupid button over and over again.
I wonder if Desmond is flashing in between lives?

Didn't even think about that. Jacob could be alive in the alternate timeline. Interesting.

the only glimpse we have gotten of the island in the alternate timeline was it under the ocean, so we don't really know who is alove or what the deal is there

Sayid is not the smoke monster. That was Sayid's body and smokey hasn't actually used a body, just taken the form. So Sayid is either alive or something else happened.

I really hope at some point they explain how he ended up wandering around naked after he blew the hatch. In the similar situation, Juliett was still stuck in the same spot near death.

Two things I haven't seen mentioned yet that I'm still trying to process:

1) Charlie said he was supposed to die to Jack after he saved him. Everyone else on the plane seems oblivious to what has happened before (or alternately), but Charlie sounded like he knew something about what was going on. Why was he supposed to die? Boone was also on the plane, but he seemed fine. Maybe nothing, bt maybe another clue.

2) What was the injury on Jack's neck when he was in the plane's bathroom?

I know. I'm very interested as to why this is.

The only other thing I can think of is that Jack can now see dead people like Hurley could/can.
Maybe Desmond's boat sank instead of making it to the island like it was supposed to during his race?

Was the 'other' Jack injured in the neck at the same time? Is there a link between the two realities?

Jack had a wound on the right side of his neck when he looked in the mirror in the lavatory on the plane. Daniel Faraday had bandages on the right side of his neck just before his momma Eloise Hawking offed him. Jack assumed Faraday’s mission to ‘un-do the crash’ and took over detonation of the hydrogen bomb (with a little help from Juliet). Jack’s hair also stood out, as it was not styled like Jack’s usual hair (continuity issue? perhaps). But I couldn’t help but notice he had a deep part on the side, just like Faraday does/did. And he was acting a little ‘Twitchy’ on the plane, which was one of Sawyer’s nicknames for Dan.

Then there’s the whoa moment when Desmond appears (he’s not supposed to be on the plane) and sits down next to Jack–in row 23–and they have that, ‘Have we met before?’ moment. Yes, you have. In a stadium, at night, a few seasons ago, before Desmond’s race around the world. Anyhoo, just a reminder that Desmond is Faraday’s constant.

I was looking for the other Jack to be hurt but did not see anything.

Good theory money (about Jack seeing Desmond). You would think Desmond would be sailing and never land on any deserted island.

Also, with the older couple being asleep, no one would notice him talking to himself (I guess, I'm being generous here).

As i said earlier, the alternate timeline seems to be fixing itself, as the losties are slowly coming together in LA, which leads me to believe that somehow they won't come to THE island, but another place similar. I wouldn't be surprised it something in and around LA has a similar effect to the island.

Though i highly doubt it. Probably change my theory after next episode. Think it focuses on Kate next week.

Desmond appeared to Jack after the plane went through turbulence and should have crashed.

So glad that it's back and yet still crazy about what's going on. There is one constant still missing and was hoping to see last night during the season open or get info from the OS posters-------Where is Claire? If I'm not mistaken she's still on this island. This means she would have also gone through the Time travels, yet she is nowhere to be found. I was thinking that she would appear at the temple but no! She only appears on a 5 sec clip in a taxi. None of the Losties seem to ask about her whereabouts nor do they ask questions to other people they meet on the island. It's if maybe I missed something during season 5. So I beg the question to anyone out there......................

I think they got so many other things going on someone who's been missing for a while (and last seen in the company of MIB) wouldn't have crossed their minds. Though she will be on the island time upcoming. A scene flashed in the earlier previews before the premiere

I've been wondering this too.
But can we assume that all the dead people seen on the island were actually the MIB?
So if that's the case, Claire was misled by him. So does that mean she could be dead? Or is she doing his bidding?
She just left her baby out in the middle of nowhere to follow Christian. Obviously she's not thinking clearly.
