Soooo... what fictional show do you take seriously?

and How was the last scene beyond reason?

I agree with your comparison that spell thing was pretty out there but the town does seem to be in the middle of nowhere.

      ...

You jut explained why I don't take True Blood seriously. It's about vampires and a dozen other mythological creatures, is based almost entirely on sex, and has all kinds of absolutely absurd situations.

The shows I take/took seriously and cared when logical inconsistancies and over the top situations occurred are along the lines of The Wire, The Shield, Gilmore Girls, and Sons of Anarchy. They certainly have their fair share of questionable plotlines, but the overall program warrants more scrutiny.

I like True Blood but the writing and content don't lend itself to realistic events where characters act in a rational manner.

There was really nothing absurd about that last scene if you take it in context of the reality of the show.

The last scene was one of the best scene's in the show's existence, IMO. Before I thought Russell was just Ok as a villain but, that scene put him on a whole new level.

Plus Russell is clearly not all there in the head.

He's been hunting humans for fun for at least 2,000 years, wants to get rid of any notion of equality between humans and vampires, and his lover was just killed so it's not exactly a stretch that he would act somewhat irrationally and outlandish.

I think you're a bit hung up on "which fictional shows are allowed to be taken seriously or not".

              It's not really about that.

More or less what I was meaning to get across is that the show has certainly taken a turn. An extreme turn and the action has gone from 0-100 really really quickly. Certainly it's not beyond reason for that character to do something like that, I agree.

Guess the storyline had to head in that direction one way or another, they just chose to do it with a bang.

Anybody here think that Lafayette having everything going good for him is too good to be true? I have a feeling that there must be something up with his boyfriend. From the things he was telling Lafayette about his shrine, and now, after what I posted before about
                Spoiler
, his tattoo has me suspicious of him.

Also, what do you guys think is up with new lady at Merlotte's. In two seperate scenes she has been a helpful, kind, and calming source for a character. And both times I have noticed that she was in a position looking down towards that character, with a bright light coming through a window behind her. I was thinking about all kinds of angelic thinks she could be, but then when she brought up abortion, and i thought maybe I'm just going crazy and reading way too deep into nothing. Is it just me?

so you took Gilmore Girls seriously?

As for the ending to the most recent episode, I was kind of wanting something like that to happen. It's kind of seemed like they did their best to keep everything in Bon Temps, and I always thought bringing in the national dynamic would make things more interesting.

                    It's a great program.

Drama and comedy intertwined perfectly. It's a pretty damn accurate portrayal of a kid and mother from the girl's last 3 years of high school and four years of college. Plus a lot of girls will love you if you tell them you watch the show.

There's gotta be something up with Jesus. For one, the storyline is completely pointless right now. Sure, I'm happy that Lafayette is happy, but in the scope of the show the story doesn't belong. He's more than he seems to be, and I agree with Dillberg that the tattoo is a clue of some sort.

I'm sort of dubious about the dream world thing with Sookie. I hope they give it a good explanation.

As for last night's episode, the ending was awesome. It was shocking, amusing, and changed the world the show takes place in, all wrapped up into one three minute segment. Awesome stuff.

Ok I was just being curious because it was the second time I'd heard it. I've watched the scene at least 4x and love it every single time haha

To each his own. I've never seen more than a few minutes of an episode here and there so I can't comment on it, I just wanted to be sure you didn't throw that in there as a joke.

Yeah i'm loving the way it's going now. I hope it escalates into all out war between the pro human vampires and the vampires like Russell who only want to use them as food / play things. It'll also be interesting to see how Eric goes about trying to kill Russell seeing as he is so much older / stronger than he is.

Good i hope my wife doesn't read that post. I've been telling her for years that men just don't 'get' the 'brilliance' of Gilmore Girls so i can get out of watching it with her.

I agree with Gizmo that Tommy is starting to get annoying. Sam has done so much for him yet he keeps acting like a total asshat. That short woman Hoyt is dating is hilarious, who the F brings dolls to a date. I hope he hooks back up with Jessica which = nudity / sex scenes in the not to distant future.

                              You should watch it sometime.

Everyone says "dude Gilmore Girls is stupid" but then after a couple of episodes they're hooked.

Yeah i've seen bits of it as my wife loves the show. I have to admit the banter between the main character's is pretty witty and well done and the parents are pretty funny. I just find it a bit too monotonous to sit through a full episode or multiple episodes of it to be honest.

The great thing about true blood is i get to play the 'sharing her interests' card by religiously following a show about Vampires with her but all the while i would watch it anyway because of all the hilarity, mayhem, nudity and violence.
