I like this a lot, Crowe can give off that stoic patriarch type vibe quite well IMO.Looks like Russell Crowe is set to play Jor-El. http://www.aintitcool.com/node/50038Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I think Crowe would work pretty-well. I think he's got enough gravitas for Jor-El the same way Brando did.
Also, we can't expect these guys to keep rehashing scenes of Brando as Jor-El from over 30 years ago. And this way, we're truly moving on from the Donner films. Which is exactly what most people panned Superman Returns for, for being too nostalgic.Comment

Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe were both Robin Hood...are we sure Kal-El wont turn out to be Green Arrow in this movie?“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I'm cool with Crowe but was really hoping for Jon Hamm for Jor El.
The only issue I have with Russell Crowe is I can hear his accent in almost everything he does. He can bring some serious intensity to the screen though, depending on how this script is written the casting could be another master stroke.
This movie needs to be a smash hit. Apparently Green Lantern is reviewing abysmally so DC needs to hit a movie out of the park. Obviously Nolan's Batman will be fantastic but I really don't want to see Superman get put back on the cinematic shelf for another 20 years.

Actually I think most of the complaints was directed at the whole "super kid" thing and how Luthor was portrayed. I seem to recall (and i'm one of them) that a lot of people actually LIKED the call backs to the Donner films.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Deadline.com reports that Julia Ormond has been offered the role of Superman's Kryptonian mother, Lara for the up-coming "Man of Steel" film.
The British actress has appeared in films such as "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", while also appearing on TV shows such as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "CSI: NY".
If talks are successful, Ormond is likely to star beside Russell Crowe who is set to be cast in the role of Jor-El.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Only 2 roles I can think of is Lex Luthor and BrainiacDeadline.com reports that Christopher Meloni, best known to fans as Detective Elliot Stabler on TV's "Law & Order: SVU", is set to be cast in the up-coming "Man of Steel" film.
If indeed true, it's unknown just what role Meloni will play in the Superman movie, but his recent departure from "Law & Order: SVU" leaves the 50 year old actor positioned to move on to other opportunities.
Confirmed roles in this new Superman movie include Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Other actors rumored to be in the movie, but not yet officially confirmed via a press release, include Antje Traue as Faora, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, and Julia Ormond as Lara.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Is anyone else a bit worried with all the big names in this movie?
Kevin Costner as Pa Kent, Crowe as Supes dad...
It's almost like they're trying to hide a bad script with A-list stars to make sure it generates a bunch of money.
I hope I'm wrong though.Comment
