We're going by comics history here.

Like I've been saying, this shouldn't be considered Man of Steel 2 if you have the ******* Batman in it because both are too huge to merely play a small part in a movie. Call it World's Finest if you will. Superman vs Batman....just no, simply because they haven't even established the necessary elements that would allow Batman to even get a sniff of Superman in a fight in Superman's own movie. Plus, I'm tired of Batman beating Superman just because he's Batman.

      This.
I guess that's what I'm most tired of.
That co-worker of mine was once asked if Batman could beat Superman if they were both in a square room, with nothing but four walls and their underwear.
He answered "Of course". When asked how, he replied "Batman is resourceful. He'd find a way".

It seems when Batman and Superman are involved, any sort of realism or rational thought is thrown out the door in lieu of favoritism.
Batman always wins because he's cooler.

Exactly. Their tiny brains can't grasp the idea of Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities FAR beyond those of mortal men. Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands

Batman is just a mortal man he stands no chance.

          ... Exactly.

And FT, this is my answer to your question. I like Batman because he is just a dude. Superman action scenes were boring as **** to watch, although the building destruction was awesome (though a bit 'careless', as the HISHE also mentioned).

And Beantown, Man of Steel 2 might surprise you a bit if you haven't seen the first one because you mentioned you're expecting Superman in it. He died halfway through the first one. Yep, even I didn't see it coming. Totally Hitchcockian of Snyder to do that.

I think the movie can work really well, I don't really see an issue with Batman facing off against Superman. Besides Lex is a mere mortal and he's able to wound Superman and I don't see people complain about how it makes Superman look weak or anything like that.

Through kryptonite. Which hasn't been discovered yet. Oh, and Lex is a genius in addition to being stupid rich.

How about Jensen Ackles as Batman? If they are rebooting the Batman story a young guy like him could be the right fit.

                  <a href="http://movies.cosmicbooknews.com/content/exclusive-tyler-hoechlin-new-batman-screen-test-henry-cavill-plot-new-supermanbats-movie">Tyler Hoechlin</a> may play Batman in MoS 2.

Regarding the new Batman, Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf, Lincoln Heights, 7th Heaven, Road To Perdition) is being heavily considered for the part and will be getting a screen test alongside Henry Cavill. Warner Bros. and Snyder are looking at somebody to play the new Batman with a reputation similar to Cavill's, when Cavill was testing for Superman. It's also said that better known actors could also be testing for the role. As filming is expected to begin in early 2014, screen tests should be happening soon.

And Bruce Wayne hasn't been portrayed as incredibly smart and resourceful in addition to being stupid rich as well? That's a bad argument.

In this universe he hasn't been introduced yet.

                      Neither has Lex.

                      Or kryptonite.

Seems like a lot going on for one movie.

Oh, no, that's not the bad argument I'm talking about. I'm talking about the "And Lex is incredibly smart" add on, when I don't recall ever seeing a portrayal of Bruce in any comic, show, or movie that doesn't have him be incredibly smart and resourceful. That's not an "advantage" Lex has over Bruce.

The kryptonite thing is a very valid argument.

I'd be a fan of this as he definitely has the personalities of a Bruce Wayne.

I also like the info in that link whether accurate or not. They should fight at first, but it shouldn't be the whole movie where either get a W since its building up for the rest of the DC universe.

Bruce is intelligent and resourceful and a gifted detective, but Lex is often portrayed as a prodigy. A prodigy with few moral limits. They aren't in the same level in that regard (though I believe Bruce is supposed to be quite a bit richer).

                                Re: Superman Man Of Steel

Seriously though, it's all about the writers. Most of the time they have to come up with something out of their *** that really doesn't make much sense for Batman to beat Superman. Or, they dumb Superman down even though he's actually pretty smart. Or they alter how powerful the kryptonite affects Superman.

I was reading this review of the Injustice comic book tie-in and I found myself agreeing with the Batman bits. http://www.supermanhomepage.com/comi...ic=injustice28

When Batman needs to become the coolest, most badass, smartest person in the universe, writers have no problem instantly turning him into Batgod.

As for Lex, he has a battle-suit which actually allows him to stand toe-to-toe with Superman without using kryptonite. When Jor-El was educating Kal-El in Man of Steel about their history, you can see that the battle-suit in the comics/cartoon resembles the old armor/suit the kryptonians used in this movie.
