Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
After getting a red line in this television, I finally received a new television about 2 weeks ago. Panasonic sent someone to repair the first tv I purchased but he figured out that it was a bad panel. The repair company Panasonic sent actually gave me a loner television to use until Panasonic sent them the new set. The whole process took about a month for me to get a new television. I think a month was a little ridiculous but it was worth the wait since the picture on the set is so damn good.
Anyways Panasonic actually ended up giving me the P50ST60 instead, which was nice since it was the newer model of the tv I bought.

How many of you guys actually use 3D on your TV? I'm not sure if investing in 3D or a smartTV is worth the extra money, especially with the lack of 3D content or the option of getting a box to educate my TV. However I'm under the impression that any top of the line TV made in the last couple years is probably a smart TV.[NYK|DAL|VT]

If you are a user of Netflix and lazy like I am then a Smart TV is well worth it. Instead of having to boot up your console you can press one button and bring up Netflix.Comment

I was just looking at this TV. About time for me to invest in one. Looking at plasma.

And 3D just depends on how much you like it. There is plenty of 3D content now but it's usually going to run you an extra $5-15 more than the 2D only version. (Best Buy and Amazon do seem to have 3D movies in the $20-25 range every few weeks....otherwise they are $30-40)
I don't have a 3D tv, but a 3D converter box that does a pretty good job (was less than $40). At last count I have 40 3D blu rays.
My main tv has a Roku 2 XS box and my secondary tv has a WDTV live and external hard drive.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 04-15-2013, 10:18 PM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
For those who watch 3D content on their plasmas:
It took me a month to realize it after owning my plasma, but watching 3D Blu-rays with 24Hz enabled was a massive issue. It causes a very, very slight judder or flicker that made me a bit nauseous. I found that turning it off made things seamless. What's quite strange though is that with 2D Blu-rays, I need to enable 24Hz to eliminate any flicker in that image. It's all a bit weird.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Never thought I would get a plasma because of the weight, power consumption, heat dispersion, and glare/reflections in brightly lit rooms, but it seems that plasma's have improved since a few years ago and this one has tint over the screen to reduce glare. Going to take a look at this one today, the only thing is I won't have a way to get it home, I may have to get it delivered.
Wow, the older version TC-P50S60 is only $700 at Best Buy, going there to compare them side-by-side, if the picture quality is about the same, Ill save my self $300! Looks like the only difference is 3D, which I dont care for.Last edited by ghettogeeksta; 04-16-2013, 10:52 AM.Comment

I'm looking for a good universal remote for around $70. This is my first time having a smart TV and with its capabilities I find my self using the TV remote way more than I use to making me switch between cable and TV remote quite often. I need a universal remote that can control not only the volume, but ALL the functions on my TV and satellite/cable box.Last edited by ghettogeeksta; 04-18-2013, 04:50 AM.Comment

But as authentic said, the search starts and ends with Harmony. The best they have on your budget is the 650 (controls 5 devices).

A marketplace seller has it for $63 shipped.
I have 2 harmony remotes and won't go back to anything else.Comment

I don't know of any remoter that will give you everything----especially at $70.
