Yeah, I am not buying the display model.

I am about 85% sold on the Samsung PN605300. My current Samsung LCD has a response time of 8 ms while the plasma has between 50 and 60 ms. Will this be a big change for me? Halo and maybe Battlefield will be the only shooters that I'll be playing.

I may expand my price limitation to $1,200 especially if there are good deals in the coming weeks.

I've been reading up on input lag. I was just curious if any of you guys have had experiences going from a display with low response time to one that is significantly higher. 8ms to about 60 ms seems like a big jump to me. Obviously I can return the tv if it bothers me too much.

By the way, the Samsung PN8500 looked so good in the store yesterday. I knew they were great televisions but hadn't seen one in person. I really wish they weren't so much more money.

The F8500 has pretty significant lag. If you turn Game Mode on and switch the input name to PC (which unfortunately has motion disturbances to my eyes and turns off some image settings options), it will reduce the lag time to "playable," something that my 23" Sammy LCD was at. But I game on my D7000, which has very minimal lag time at all. Going from one to the other with The Show or Rock Band is significant, IMO.

By the way, I'm watching TV on my F8500 right now. Love this thing. I recommend you pick one up right now, because they won't go down in price and they just halted manufacturing on them a couple of weeks ago. It won't be long before you won't be able to find them anywhere, and when you do the price will be much, much higher.

So it's best just to keep every processing feature set to off such as dynamic contrast & dynamic color when using game mode? Is it okay though to adjust the regular settings such as color, contrast, backlight in game mode? I always keep the trumotion turned off for games and movies as well. Thanks.

They say to turn off those processes, but I'd recommend to make sure your games aren't too washed out and stick Dynamic Contrast to Low. Might as well. Anything else in the main picture settings can be tweaked, because those aren't processes.

I find when I turn off the dynamic contrast & dynamic color it does make the picture look more faded & darker with less depth. I try to compensate by turning up color & brightness a bit. When I play with those on it doesn't really feel any different & I don't feel or notice any input lag so may just leave them on. Appreciate the help.

Man, I would really like to grab a PN608500. Amazon has a few used sets that are going for around $1,800 and have just scratches on the frame. Still, that is just out of my price range. As a teacher who's getting married this year, the 8500 is just not in my budget. However, I am keeping my eyes on the PN64H5000.

I have the 60F8500 for 3 months now...I am selling it on CL for $1600 and got two offers already...HAHA...

Mine is up on the wall with zero issues and scratches or dents or whatever Amazon warehouse offers....

I am selling it and getting the 64 inch version

I game on my tv all the time and use PC mode as it has very little lag and with my pq settings it looks great.

What should the color gamut setting be set at standard or wide? Thanks.

I use PC mode in my Samsung Plasma so it defaults to Native which cannot be changed. The wide in your settings will be the same as native in mine.

I would prefer standard but I get no choice unless I use game mode instead which to me does not offer the same lag response as PC mode

                            Stormy, make sure:

1- Your gaming device is connected to HDMI 1. HDMI 1 on Samsung's are like a default PC Input via HDMI.

2- Put the TV in Game Mode 1st. Then rename Game Mode to PC. This reduces the lag of Game Mode even more.

I'll check that out. I have a LG 42" lcd tv. Yeah both my PS3 & PS4 are connected to hdmi inputs. Thanks. *Update* I can't seem to see anyway to change the name. Only thing I see is a input label button when choosing an hdmi input. It's on game mode but no option to change it to pc. Not sure if I am missing something.

The new projector came today. Once I get the flooring laid in the basement/man cave and get it hooked up, I'll throw up some pictures. Could be October or November though
