Call Yamaha for troubleshooting. I think you're missing a step somewhere, but without the soundbar in front of me I'm not sure what it is.

My soundbar has different inputs for optical and RCA, so I figured that would be something you'd have to consider. Not on the TV, on the soundbar. Heck, my soundbar wasn't playing sound because I was on 5.1 on the soundbar when I was supposed to be on 2.1.

Maybe whatever source you're playing from also needs an option change. I know PlayStation always requires that.

It says something about using a thing called Audio Return channel but I am kind of confused about that and it says it works with HDMI input 4 on my TV and the connection thing on the sound bar called Out ARC..

So I was able to get the sound bar to work with HDMI now. Not sure what I did wrong. I have one other question though. Is there any way to use HDMI with a sound bar and get sound on multiple things like Comcast, ps4 etc? Right now I have it plugged in a way that gets HDMI sound on Comcast but on ps4 I have to use TV instead of HDMI input and that is optical cable instead of HDMI. With Optical cable you get sound on ever thing that is plugged into your tv. Any way to get the same but with HDMI?

Sounds like your HDMI switching is not working correctly. ARC can be incredibly fickle. I activated Anynet on my Samsung KS8000 thinking I could get sound from HDMI for cable box and PS4. No go. Only get cable box. I had to use Optical from PS4 to soundbar. A lot depends on what soundbar you how well it supports ARC/switching. It seems like an easy concept, but I know a lot of people have issues trying to get this type of set up to work correctly and trouble free.

I have the Enclave wireless speaker system and they are great for customer support...even they conceded that this could be the problem and advised using optical...after multiple emails and 1 on 1 sessions.

Not sure how it compares to the H8C, but I saw this Hisense is on sale at BB this weekend.

            $399 for the 55".

The TCL is awesome. I'm not the guy with the eye for details, but the colors seemed great, and I still have to find Rtings settings and do the phone app stuff. Size is amazing, just looks nicer. Watched some football on it last night (Ohio State) and was very pretty.

For 680 out the door it's a great price. Just also like the comfort of having a decent HDR that does both standards so I can slowly add newer gaming systems or things and be ok. TVs last me forever, and don't see a big need to get anything bigger here or for other rooms.

The Long Dark looked more vivid to me on it as well. I know I don't have any HDR or anything (No xbox one s) but the larger picture seemed nicer than my old Vizio 1080p.

I don't feel anything budget about it for me, so it was a perfect pickup.

It's also fairly light....i was shuttling around tvs and it's much lighter than my bigger Vizio, and my old 760p Vizio (which is still a good tv) is a heavy beast compared to those lol.

Oh, how in the Youtube Roku app do I know if it's doing 4k? Is there a settings button or way to verify? Just wondering...that (and maybe the Amazon one for now) are the only 4k things I'd use. Eventually I'll upgrade Netflix, but we don't stream quality tv shows down there so pretty useless at the moment.

Anyone with a 2017 LG OLED ever had this problem. I go to the you-tube app and watch a 4k video but the TV doesn't switch to HDR mode. I watched the same video last week and it did switch to HDR mode. My set seems to be stuck thinking that everything is 1080p even though it is 4K.

If I watch a 4k blu-ray on my One S it switches but Netflix and You-Tube no longer switch.

Oh ok yeah I am getting sound with HDMI on cable box if I select HDMI input on the sound bar but on other things to get sound I have to select TV input and have it plugged in with optical cable. I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong. Was starting to think that maybe you had to just plug ever HDMI thing into the cable box if you want to use HDMI but that sounds wrong would only be able to plug one thing in and like have to take it out when you want to use something else.

I think I read posts on other sites about the PS4 being an issue with the hdmi switching. Bottom line is it is a cluster. Some folks have no issues at all, and others like you and me spend more time plugging and unplugging stuff to see what works and what doesn't. It is not at all consistent which makes resolution extremely hard.

I am not sure if I am getting lossless audio from the PS4 anymore but there is nothing I can do about that.

You're not. Once you use ARC you lose the high quality audio. Such a disappointment if this is the only way to get HDR with a receiver.
