Never heard of MicroLed before but i know tech is always getting better and comming up with new things but new tech always cost a lot though. Ok so after i saw this post i was able to find this. https://www.cnet.com/news/microled-i...-it-beat-oled/

So OLED came out in 2008 and here 10 years later it still cost a lot and it sounds like MicroLed is still a few years from like even really being a thing. MicroLed it may be like another 20 years before you can get say like a 55 inch MicroLed for $1000 or something.

Yeah, wouldn't hold my breath for MicroLED quite yet. I think OLED will be tons cheaper first, and then MicroLED would be like OLED is now (more expensive)...

It is cool to think/realize that eventually there'll be a point when displays are as good as they really need to be (for human eyes)

I'm looking for a 55-60 inch 4k TV for my bedroom. I play all my video games in on my KS8000 in my man cave. So more than likely I'll never play any video games on it and mainly just use it to watch regular TV, sports and movies.... maybe I'll eventually get a 4K Blu Ray player but I doubt it since I mainly just stream movies now days.

I was in Target a few weeks ago and they had this Samsung Curved Smart TV for $650 https://www.target.com/p/samsung-55-...0/-/A-50672694

I guess it was priced low due to being an older model? I'm not sure. Either way I passed at the time because I didn't want to make an impulse buy. Is that a good TV or does any one have anything they would recommend that's similar in price?

Pick up the new TCL 6 Series. 55 inch is 599 at BB. CNET just reviewed it and gave a solid review. It's a local dimming set with excellent blacks and very good color. Motion is average

That one's cheap because it's a native 60 hz panel. No HDR.

Weird naming convention by TCL. Last year's was the P6 series, now they just drop the P? Seems confusing.

Problem right now is LG is basically the only panel maker and they won't license it to Samsung. There has to be more competition before prices will start to drop. Samsung is working on their own and I think another 1 or 2 are giving it a go.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Not something I'm too seriously thinking about, but just wanted to know more about it.

Was looking at projectors/projection screens and it seems like the cost for a screen that can go around 100 inches would be much less than the cost of a 50+ inch TV.

I know if it's a room that has light you can't control(as is the case in many living rooms), projectors won't be the best idea, something like a basement or just a room with doors(and window with blinds/shade) would be better.

What would be some of the biggest pros(besides getting a projection screen with video over 100 inches), and biggest cons(minus the lighting stuff I mentioned)? And what are the biggest differences between the cheaper and more expensive screens and projectors?

Looking on Amazon, a simple search would produce this:
                  https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p...=operasport-20

You see many can be under $300(like 2 of the first 3 results), and many are over $300(like the 2nd result). I don't know enough about them to really know the main difference. Similar with the screens. I can find ones as cheap as $30 and others can be around $300.

Interested to hear people with more experience answer....

I've never seen amazing projectors, but I'd imagine if you had the right basement setup it'd be great. Here in AZ you don't see basements as often, so it'd be tough for me to really control the light enough.

You also don't get 4K cheaply, but i wonder as well if a nice projector in a dark room could look amazing (like a TV) or not....like 10 years ago it'd be obvious that it was a projector and not really great, but for super bowls and stuff it was nice to see it big. I don't know what current tech is like though.

What do you guys think of the 2018 Vizio M series? I just read an article heavily praising it but I'm not sure if they were paid for that review.

No wide color gamut, so not true HDR. Along with it being a 60 hz panel.

The 8000 has better contrast, but the Vizio is a full-array where the 8000 is only edge lit. Brightness and black uniformity goes to the 8000. The 8000 will have a more accurate picture as far as color goes. Both are 120 hz but the Vizio has a better input lag.
