Pulled the trigger on the Arc to pair with my 55" CX. Got a slight discount for $50 off through a family friend at Abt, but ordered the black version which is currently backordered. I'm going to head back tomorrow and check if the white version is in stock, which i'll just exchange if so.

EDIT: Went and exchanged it for the white version and ive had it hooked up for the past day now. Only been using it with youtube and TV streamed from my apple TV but so far im glad i spent the money.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

Just got the 65" LG GX delivered this morning. I had been holding off for the G1 but it never seems to be available. Plus, I've read that it's a little better but not a ton better so I saved some $$ and went with the GX. I currently have a C8 which will be relocated to the basement.

Now I just need the guy that is going to hang it for me come by. Normally I'd do it myself, but we just moved into a new house (it's a new build) and they put the cable/ethernet and power too high on the wall, so I need to do some relocating of cables/wiring and patching a big hole.

I can't wait to get it hung and fire it up!

How bad is the chip shortage affecting TVs?

Not sure, but I just learned from my godfather that it's even affecting car rental businesses. It's absurd, man.

TCL is the best out of those IMO.

Get a warranty, either will break, not built to last. TCL does seem to have better quality.

The new TCL 6 series has not been released yet, there is no way I would recommended the older TCL over the New Hisense U8G.

That’s fine, you’re able to have your own opinion. I personally wouldn’t buy either.

I think the TCL is probably your best bet here. They are a decent TV for the price and the 6 series has Dolby Vision & Atmos support IIRC.

The key there I think is that your brother doesn't play games. I've tried to play games on my TCL and coming from 1MS monitor to the TV just doesn't work lol.

My kids have a crappy 32" TV in the playroom and I feel bad for them playing PS4 on it but knowing I had a 13" Orion TV as a kid helps ease the pain. I'm getting my CX before they get an upgrade.

My TCL has been on the wall getting daily use for a long time now with zero issues. I could go home today and it be fried but I've also spent really good money on a Sony TV before only for it to die on me within a few months.

TCL has gotten better but they still have some issues. They should last longer than the warranty but may or may not last for years.

Hisense has got terrible problems if you look around online. TVs breaking, them trying to repair it multiple times, trying to not honor warranties, etc. They can look good when they run but there is a high chance that something stops working.

I remember back in 2016 or 2017, they ordered a 4 year warrant with the H8C TV I think. That lasted a matter of months.
