Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

I finally finished all of the Marvel Netflix shows. Some of them were bad at the times and all of them had some cringe-worthy moments but all and all I was entertained.

I'd rank them Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones (Season 1 was great and is the reason I'd rank it over LC), Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders last. I think Killgrave was the best villain but I loved as Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin too. Him, Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher are the best versions of the characters, in my opinion, and it would be a shame to never see them again.

There have been some rumors about getting them back but I just don't think it's going to happen and if it does it will be on Disney Plus; which likely means they won't be as violent/dark as they were on Netflix. With that said, I'd love to see a final Defenders mini-series or maybe even a movie just to wrap up the remaining storylines and get some closure.

If any variations of these shows come back they should logically be on Hulu. A Punisher or Daredevil on Disney Plus is worse than not having a show at all IMO.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

After giving Seinfeld a second chance I agree it is pretty good.

Re: What's good to watch on Netflix

I started Mad Men last year and never really got into it....it took me a long time to finish the first season, but I gave it another shot a few weeks ago and I enjoyed it as much as any other TV series I have seen. Originally I wasn't a huge fan of the ending....but after watching some youtube commentary videos and reading what Matthew Weiner (show creator) has said about it....it's starting to grow on me.

I also watched Twin Peaks for the first time about a month ago, and wow.....I thoroughly enjoyed the quirky characters and watching things get weirder and weirder. I definitely have plans to watch the reboot series as I think the finale sort of sets you up for it(even though reboots usually lead to disappointment)

I've watched Twin Peaks twice in about 2-3 years and both times I've stopped around the same spot and never finish.

It's definitely a tough one to get through because of how surreal it is (that might not be the right word to describe it...). I watched the first episode and didn't quite get it and just thought it was over-dramatic, but a friend of mine pointed out some of the subtleties like the repetitive musical score and it started to grow on me. It's classified as "horror" but I found it more funny than scary up until the last few episodes.

I wouldn't classify it has a horror... I'd say it's more like a super weird murder mystery soap opera. It definitely had some funny moments and some unintentionally funny moments too but I really enjoyed it for the most part. It's basically kicked off the beginning of primetime dramas as we know them and influenced so many tv shows. It has aged a little but for being 30 years old it's not too bad.

Also, you have to appreciate the women of Twin Peaks too. It's like the Ginger and Maryanne debate of the 60's times four. I mean, Shelly, Audrey, Donna, and Josie were all pretty fine, then they throw in Annie too? Whoo boy. I think I'm more of an Audry guy but ask me again tomorrow and that may change.

As far as "The Return"... it's something. I'd say it's an acquired taste. All I will say is that I'm glad that I watched it but I'm not sure that I'll ever watch it again.

I can't tell if Outer Banks is satire or not. It feels like a spoof, but it's not blatant

referring to him as "John B" was part of why I thought it was a parody, like something from the Bachelor franchise, and now that I hear he's 27 I realized it's not a spoof, because Dylan was 50
