Rewatched Godzilla Minus One now that it's on Netflix. Such an amazing flick.

Note that it defaults to its English dub. I switched to Japanese with English subtitles.

S2 of House of the Dragon is off to a good start.

.. re-watched the last season of Game of Thrones. Hated it less watching in sequence.

I mean, the war vs the dead is still one of the lamest things most anti-climactic things I've ever seen, but the rest was very solid.

I don't think it deserves all the hate it gets. The episodes leading up to the battle at Winterfell were some of the best of the series.

Eric was a 10 out of 10 for me.

I was disappointed by Eric, they tackled too many issues for a 6 episode miniseries, not enough time to focus on the amount of issues they went after

        Now I’d give Your Honor a 10! It’s amazing.

I'm totally opposite, I would've liked it to be longer and focus more on all the individual issues they tackle, plus more Eric

condensing so much into 6 episodes isn't enough

The Boys is still very good. The scene(s) with Homelander's return to his "lab of origin" ("waste paper basketball" & "squirt") was super sick intense. I think it's the right call to end it with a final season 5.

Agreed, I think a lot of the hate online is certain segments of the audience not enjoying being satirized.

The first two episodes or so felt like they were dragging things along, but it was all building up to the second half of the season. The last episode was really good, but of course people find something to complain about.

Oh I don't know about this, at all. I'm very aware, and have been, of the satire, and as someone who is sort of the target, it's never bothered me as the show was pretty balanced.

What bothers me now is that the way it's being done is so overt, it is as if they are clubbing the point home for those who may not be getting it.

That's my only issue is let's get back to being a bit more clever and smart about it.

I think it was overt and obvious from the start, personally, but it was first going at corporations (read: Disney, etc.) and 'superhero worship.' It's become more and more about satirizing segments of the US population and their views, which causes 'outrage' and review bombing from those folks. There was never any real nuance to the satire, but I'm okay with that cause some folk won't get it otherwise (like getting upset four seasons in).

I don't care either way because most groups of people lack self-awareness and fall into 'group think' without realizing the dangers of it. I think that is what the show - I'm not really sure about the comic book as much - is trying to get across.

While I am definitely not a part of either group we are talking about anymore, I have always been able to laugh at myself and those around me. I think more folks should be able to.

I just find that I like a little balance in it, and the show has done a great job of that. I don't really have any big thing to say about it, other than maybe people aren't liking this season as much as the whole thing has become a bit more blunt and a lot less subtle.

That's cool, and believe you me, I really love the show, it's my favorite show right now going...and nothing is likely to change that, certainly not whatever type of politics anyone holds.

Its just a fun, awesome, hilarious watch. People need to quit being so serious about everything IMO and they'd be a lot less anxious and enjoy life more

Possible, there's always the gross out factor that might not be palatable to some.

I thought this season has been kinda meh. I can already see them going all out for the last few episodes of the season and then going all out next season since that’s the last one, which I hate but it’s whatever at this point.

Really enjoying House of the Dragon S2.. wishing I had read the book(s) though. Think it would be a better experience than this series.

                          The Double

Synopsis: A county magistrate's daughter loses everything but regains her life by masquerading as a minister's daughter, overcoming injustice with help from Duke Su Xiao Heng, rescuing her imprisoned father, and upholding justice.

Really enjoying this. The characters are all fun and engaging, and the story is very interesting to follow. There is a lot of politicking and characters trying to outmaneuver each other. I've seen better in this genre, but I am still really enjoying it.

I thought you were referring to the movie that spoils itself in its trailer:

                            <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pKRKoZIjiFk?si=fzjPLM4HDrNzXqDV" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Spoiler alert: it actually doesn't, as this information is revealed pretty early on in the movie and is a significant plot point overall. That being said, the ending is predictable all the same, and the movie ain't all that good.

There is also a Jesse Eisenberg movie called The Double (2014) on top of the one that you brought up. Looks like there are more Doubles which I need to place on my radar, and hopefully will be better than that 2011 Richard Gere film.

I have also heard they make double Oreo's but I have always been pretty happy with the original Oreo's so I've never had much time to investigate.

I actually really like The Double (2014). It's directed by Richard Ayoade of The IT Crowd and based off The Double by Dostoyevsky, of who I am a fan. Pretty unique film but it's got some humor to it. It's actually probably in my top 30 films or so if I had to make a list.
