When you say you "sure would", then you're also agreeing to the obvious needed example of The Black Panther, who is by defintition and origin, an African king and therefore IS no other race. So then it would be okay, according to your argument, for the most popular Black character in history, Othello, to be of another race.
And to carry it further, to within the specific context of fictional comic book characters, let's say The Falcon, who is originally portrayed as a Black character, and was most likely chosen by Marvel at the time they introduced him, was done so to show unity between a Caucasian hero (and a major one at that) and a Black hero. So therefore, it would have been okay, in order to help achieve the message and/or influence that Marvel was trying to portray would have been just as well portrayed if the Falcon was also Caucasian, or to make it easier, even Hispanic?
Fictional characters are often portrayed as a certain race for a certain reason. It's not the opposite construct.
