Though I think part of me likes that as well. Lets things be unexpected and sneak up on me (didn't really see the end coming lol but nobody did as it was completely out of left field), and I never thought I'd see a show where you got to watch Kiefer just answer the people's questions for an entire segment. Kind of nice pace for a show on air that you don't see very often. Every other show out there has to whip things around so quickly. This show did as well early on, but I think it's catching its footing.

Don't know what's in store next week since I don't watch the previews, but this is a show that I definitely look forward to week in and week out.
We haven't watched last night's ep, but the prior one that was less on conspiracy was still cool. Part of what the show wants to focus on is that Kirkman's ill prepared to be President, and how he responds to that.

Hopefully they bring more conspiracy back, but I like a good mix of conspiracy and politics. I don't mind some episodes being more West Wing, to be honest.

Interesting that Adam's with Kimball now...not really sure who we can trust.

I think kimball has her own agenda, however shes not so much an enemy of the president as she seems to have a different way of doing things.

In other words she agrees with some of his decisions but would go about it a totally different way.

She is a politician, and he more of an outlier by how he became the pres.

Totally...just that Adam was questionable. Kinda cleared but maybe not...

Will be interesting to see how it all goes. Politically it's way different than most dramas, given the situation, so that makes it fun and unique.

Fun episode, clearly some notes borrowed from The West Wing with the walking and talking in the first act, a Sorkin trademark.

Kinda hate the forced loud whisper schtick the reporter does for his normal speech. It's necessary to create the smarmy reporter thing instead of him playing smart guy like he usually does I suppose, but I still don't like it.

At least we're getting some conspiracy tied back into the administration.

Yeah. TVGuide's review summed it up for me.

I wasn't taking notes so it got by me. This was their big "traitor reveal"?

It could have been worse-they could have gone the stupid camp route and made it the First Lady, Emily or Seth.

That would have been infinitely worse, yes. Anyone who thinks that makes good television is delusional.

                          Re: Kiefer Sutherland-"Designated Survivor"

I think the problem with the conspiracy is nobody's involved that we'd miss. If it was the first lady, or one of the chief of staffs, that's devastating to the administration and a big story.

Seems they're heading in the direction of 'the government knew more than they're telling' and the lingering story will be the coverup and it becomes borderline rom-com territory where the main plot device is really just poor communication.

How do you know all the parties involved in the conspiracy?

So which characters would make the "we miss list", putting them in the conspiracy, and making the show better?

The parties that we know of in the conspiracy at the moment could all just die next episode and not really have much impact is what I mean.

We have no reason to be conflicted other than the administration getting busted for a cover up, but it's just an investigation, so it's not like what they're doing isn't unwarranted and justified with some clear communication / disclosures.

This is why the reveal this week didn't have much impact is all imo.

I'm not going to assume we know all the parties involved, but if they were going to hype someone as the traitor, it should've been someone more...notable on the show.

It's a tough balance between picking someone too obvious that the shock fails and picking someone too unknown and the reveal falls flat. There's still a few weeks left and I'm sure they have something interesting planned to end the season, but this specific reveal just wasn't worth the hype. Oh well.
