I got one since Samsung doesn't want to ever fix their apps. Will let you know how I like it vs just using the TV apps

Ended up ordering 2. Amazon has a good return policy so if it’s not up to par I can send them back.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

So how does casting from your phone to a firestick work?

I have a Chromecast that is incredibly choppy and unwatchable when I cast Twitch from my phone.

What a lousy Q2 AT&T had. Lost nearly 1 million DirecTV subscribers due to increased prices (SHOCKING!) and lost 168,000 subscribers from DirecTV Now.

Not surprising at all; DirecTV is even more expensive now, which is laughable, and DTVNow is near the bottom of the TV streaming services. I did a trial for every single one of them. I would rank them:

          1. YouTube TV

          2. PSVue
          3. Hulu Live TV

          4. DirecTV Now

          5. Sling

What I appreciate about this post is that YOU trialed each service and determined this from your own criteria. I too have trialed them all when I was flirting with dropping Dish. When I trialed PSVue, I was like, "Hmm, this isn't bad, I could live with this." Then I gave YoutubeTV a go and Dish was cancelled the next day. My fear is that services like YTTV or PSV will become quite large and begin gouging customers.

I was one of the customers DirecTV lost. They didn't even really attempt to keep me when I called to cancel. They offered $20 off my bill, which was still going to be over $100 for 80% of channels I don't even watch.

I tried all of the ones you listed as well and have the same exact ranking. We settled on YoutubeTV because they had all the local channels (including our regional sports channel) and the unlimited DVR. I think the unlimited DVR pushes YoutubeTV over the edge for many people. Had PS Vue had unlimited DVR, I probably would have went with them.

YTTV's positive's go on and on. One thing you didn't mention was the family share. Very handy and makes the subscription even more affordable.

Question: Which regional sports channel do you receive? That was one part I had to sacrifice was not being able to watch the Rockies, so I have to subscribe to MLB.tv and Yondertv.

I live in South Carolina, so I get the Fox Sports Carolina's station and Fox Sports Southeast. That's a huge plus for me so I can watch the Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets, and the Carolina Hurricanes. And they will also show local college football and basketball as well. So that was a huge plus in trying to find a replacement for DirecTV.

I have been pleasantly pleased with YoutubeTV and would recommend it to anyone who is trying to get away from cable or satellite tv.

                    Re: Cord cutting

I have DTVNow, tried PSVue and YTTV. I seriously considered switching to YTTV even paying for it for a month (I had already used the 7-day free trial) simultaneously with DTVN. I ultimately decided to stick with DTVN.

Main reason is that for me, the picture quality on DTVN was much better then YTTV. I have no idea why as I'm pretty sure they are broadcasting at the same resolution, but the difference was very noticeable. I especially noticed it during the NBA Finals - which ironically was sponsored by YTTV. YTTV was very blocky/pixelated whereas DTVN was much cleaner.

I'm about to lose another discount that I got from DTVN, so I may be re-thinking things again. I've even considered going back to FiOS which would be about the same price until you tack on the box rental costs and taxes/fees.

                    NBA: Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic
NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions, Boston College Eagles

                      4. DirecTV Now

                      5. Sling

                      DirecTV Now Pros:
                      • $40/mo. for over 100 Channels.. including several that I don't see listed as available on most of the streaming services. You just can't get that same deal now.
                      • All local channels, sports channels, etc.
                      • On-Demand movie selection and kid's TV selection is great. I don't even have to DVR Mickey Mouse, Blaze, etc.
                      • If you have AT&T as a cell provider there's no additional data charge for using the app on your phone.
                      • Cloud DVR.
                      • Came with a free Apple TV.

I know some of these aren't exclusive to Direc TV Now and I've had my issues with them, but overall the product has been really good to me. The only thing I'm not sure about is video quality, but it's definitely not bad. If I'm being honest I don't even care about that many channels. I really just need sports, but some of the other options I looked at a while back don't offer the same kids channels we have now.

DirecTV lost me as well and didn't try to retain when I cancelled. I see you have Sling ranked low, but I am on it now, get my regional sports network and the kids get their shows for only $35 a month ($25 blue $5 kids, and 5$5 DVR extra). The only thing I'm missing is ESPN. I have unlimited data from my cable provider and am saving over $50 a month now.

If Youtube TV had the NFLN and RedZone, it's an absolute no brainer. I get why they won't do it...but I would pay an extra 6-8 dollars a month for those two.

Crap so much for Sling, Fox Sports Networks pulled their channels so I'm cancelling. Who should I go with now?

I dropped all live but I had Hulu and if not for the fact it had no MLB Network I would go with that. YTTV was fine but the PQ sucked for me.

I’m the opposite I guess...I’ve had YouTube TV for several months and am going back to DirecTV on Monday..I don’t like the delays for sports updates. I hate watching the Rangers game and seeing a notification on my watch saying so and so has scored...
