They may not want him to get paid and not work if they fire him and his contract is still good. There could also be a clause about him not being able to compete for 6 months or a year if they don't reach an agreement versus firing him and he can go anywhere.

Who knows but generally if you end a contract it is good to just send them home and remove all access.

      My favorite this-is-sportscenter commercial:

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

AFAIK, ESPN has been a non-factor to me for at least the last 15 yrs. My go to Sports network has become CBSSports.com

Their analysis is 10x better, their draft coverage is more insightful rather than putting up with Mel Kiper's analysis. They have Danny Kennel, Brady Quinn who is really good on that show. They also have Brian McFadden and they recently hired Barry Sanders who honestly needs work in front of the camera.

I'd easily give CBSSports HQ a 9/10 and for me ESPN is a 5/10 and i'm not an ESPN basher because I started watching ESPN when it launched back in the early 80's.

I agree with this. I used to be an ESPN junkie, but over the years their coverage has become less meaningful while CBS sports has stepped up. If it wasn't for college football games I would have zero need for ESPN ever again.

But not ESPN. First Take is garbage anyway, it's nothing but Stephen A Smith yelling over everyone to get his point across.

Max is not a good match for Stephen A., but I wonder at this point is anybody? Bayless and Smith reuniting won't happen because of the economics. So many cringe worthy moments coming from Stephen A. Smith including his constant commenting on analyst's wardrobe and that stupid Texas drawl used to make fun of Cowboy fans.

Other than being a great boxing analysis Kellerman is more than competent but pretty drab.

Skip Bayless ain't walking through that door. He seems to enjoy his situation at Fox Sports.

Seems like ESPN is gonna rotate people to be on First Take with Stephen A.

He was matched with Brian Kenny a number of years back on radio in New York. I thought they made a decent pair. I am a big fan of Kenny.

Yeah, I didn't realize he re-signed in May.

One of the only upsides to HBO getting out to the boxing game is not having to listen to Max Kellerman any more. I can't stand that guy.

Although, that being said, there is basically no one left at ESPN that I care about or am entertained by any more. Kenny Mayne leaving was the last of the breed. Other than actual games, I never watch ESPN any more, and I don't even miss it or notice it.

I like Scott Van Pelt, but I don't like his own SportsCenter show. I remember when he was essentially just a PGA correspondent for ESPN. He definitely grew with them and is an "OG" to me.

Agreed - I forgot about SVP (since I never watch ESPN anymore) but I like him. I think his own 'Sportscenter' is actually pretty good, but that's qualified by the fact that it's in comparison to all the other dreck on the network. As the old saying goes, in the land of the blind...
