Come on guys this concept has been explained already it's really not that hard to follow. No they haven't set up something where "**** goes south" so they go back in time and fix it. They already clearly established you cannot change the past. It happened, it's over there's no going back and fixing it. The time travel in this movie served a specific one time purpose. They simply recovered the stones to undo Thanos' snap and it killed Tony doing it and according to the Russo's permanently damaged Hulk's arm. Time travel was the absolute LAST resort that they took only after all else failed.

Will my pain for how Hulk was treated ever end?!

Speaking of which, a video of a Russo Bros interview popped up on my YouTube recommended list, so I checked it out (and as of now is still literally the only thing I've viewed about this film outside of OS). They mentioned that Steve did indeed travel to an alternate timeline, and found a way to warp back into our timeline.

Speaking of which, a video of a Russo Bros interview popped up on my YouTube recommended list, so I checked it out (and as of now is still literally the only thing I've viewed about this film outside of OS). They mentioned that Steve did indeed travel to an alternate timeline, and found a way to warp back into our timeline.

That seems like a fairly big piece of information to not address in the actual movie.

2 things:

1. I wish Marvel would release like a brief 5-10 min video of Thanos’ learning how to fight. For someone THAT size, my man looked like prime Floyd, Tyson, Ali, Brock, McGregor, Bruce Lee all in one.

2. And I’ll put this in spoilers just in case there’s someone that still hasn’t seen this movie and is taking their time for whatever reason:

That 5 minute scene of everyone coming back and then capping it off with Captain saying “Avengers!!!.....Assemble.”, might be the best 5 minute stretch I’ve ever seen in a movie and that’s not hyperbole.

When he said that, Capt had me ready to jump in and bust some *** my damn self, lol.

Damn, I’m gonna miss the homie.

It started when I was a little kid and my brother handed me this comic book:



Culminated to today in this gem of send off. Like many others it hit a range of emotions.

Thinking about this on the drive home I was so impressed once again on how they balanced the incredible cast of characters into such an entertaining story. How difficult this must be to try to get the most enthralling tale you can get knowing you basically have one chance. In a comic book, you have so many second chances after a poorly told story, but with a movie, there is so much on the line. Sure, there are flaws, but taking in the overall package, how could it have been done any better?

Still trying to decide whether or not I wanted to hear a war cry when he says "assemble" instead of the quiet delivery. I'll take it, though. We all knew it was going to be said in that moment, and it did not disappoint one bit. (though in a "movie magic" kind of way, realistically nobody would have heard him say it, plus they had just finished assembling lol)

You're right about those five minutes, though. As I said earlier in this thread, it gave me one of my two cries in the film. I don't know if I had ever cried in a film before that wasn't necessarily meant for evoking those particular emotions, if you know what I mean. Sure, if there is something somber possibly regarding death or departure, you'll see me go old-lady on movies a lot. But this was just sheer beauty, earned through 21 previous films. And they slowly let it play through. All starting with Cap about to endure all of Thanos and his goons on his own, followed by Sam's "On your left," then that moment. When I go to see this movie again, this will be the one thing that I'm going to look forward to most.

This is why I don't understand the comments about the first 2 hours..... let it ride out ....develop it. 11 years to get to this point, so the slow building crescendo in 120-ish minutes is well deserved. Had it been the opposite and been rushed, then there'd be complaining about that. Rather err to this side of the time devoted.

As far as one of the questions above about Cap/Falcon history, I was far past being a collector at this point, but thought I saw this...

Yes, of course, as the portals are opening and the troops are gathering .... slightly bittersweet to know that Quicksilver and Vision are nowhere to be seen as they died conventionally. Maybe I guess alternate universe stuff coming up could bring one or both back (and BW?), which tends to lose me, but especially Vision is too good of a character to abandon imo, although always really liked QS myself .... underdog with an edge.

Depressing/Emotional:

Tony's death in the moment. Iron Man brought me into the Marvel world and I was giddy to see him be the one to kick things off and of course his heroics in The Avengers. Additionaly some great not so hidden messages by him along the way in talking about abandoning your resentments (earlier with Cap) and making amends especially with a parent with whom you perceived or misperceived along the way.

I don't anyone's mentioned this one as I read back over most of this thread now that I've seen the movie --- Upon re-assembling the stones in Stark's manufactured gauntlet, Rocket yelling "BOOM". I mean talk about combining the sheer seriousness of a moment and a sophomoric move --- brilliant!

I thought that was specifically the power stone.

As far as the "first two hours" thing, I still have problems with it for several reasons that I have yet to dive in to, but one of the things is that I didn't feel the stakes of a lot of moments there.
