That's cool to hear, and I didn't know that was a thing. Next time I see the film, I want to see how he reacts to things like that. I feel bad Bucky never got a chance to apologize to Tony, though.

I've only seen it once so far, but I feel like Bucky gave him a nod right before he went back. Sort of an unspoken way of him saying "Go get her, live your life."

Also, I believe Steve was still Captain America when he went back. He just got off the plane this time, and was active for however many years, just married to Peggy. I also believe that Peggy still died at the same age in the timeline, which is why Steve was alone on the bench.

During that last scene, there are a lot of not-so-subtle clues that Bucky knows what Cap is doing.

If I remember right, when Sam gets the shield he looks at Bucky and Bucky nods like "yeah, it's yours."

Well, it did actually come off a bit strange to me that Cap and Bucky didn't have much of a final conversation together. Now it sort of makes sense that they didn't, I guess.

On semi-related note, I miss the Winter Soldier mask look.



I don't think I necessarily needed the goggles each time, but one thing the Russo Bros did really well was give Bucky a bit of a creepy Joker-like sense every time he appeared in an action scene in The Winter Soldier. I know he's a good guy now and all and the actor needs his face time, but I would've loved to see that appear again in some action scenes. It is armor, after all.

Yeah you could tell what was about to happen and that Bucky knew exactly what Steve was going to do. The first viewing on opening night I was telling my friends to look at Bucky’s expressions and his tone. It wasn’t a cheerful tone or anything. He was like somber and quiet in his responses. Then when Hulk counts down to Steve’s return and nothing happens, he and Sam start freaking out, but Bucky has a little smile on his face because he knew exactly what happened. Then when Steve appears on the bench he specifically calls out to Sam to let them know he’s over there. He doesn’t say “guys” or anything like that, he specifically called Sam. Then he stood there and nodded to Sam and told him go ahead over to him before Cap ever uttered a word or moved.

Did anyone see this movie on a screen designed for 15/70mm IMAX? I'm not talking LieMAX here.

Not that they shot or projected it on film, but what aspect ratio did they use for it and how detailed did the thing look? Apparently they shot the whole film on digital IMAX, so it might actually be worth the arrangement.

I might want to try that for my next viewing.

I know this thing isn't bugging anybody else, but this is the part that still is left for some discussion. I don't think Steve "appeared" on that bench, then and there. I think he either found himself back in the timeline earlier or the writers messed up and he was in the timeline the entire time... but regardless of the former or latter, that would mean he would have walked/snuck over to that bench, maybe glanced over his shoulder a couple of times to watch himself go into the portal (which again contradicts their timeline explanation), and waited for one of them to come along.

Or, just maybe, he found that secret special way to get ported back to that perfect spot in time as he knew, and to spawn sitting on the bench just about when Prof. Hulk counted down to zero. I feel like we or the characters would have heard it though.

I've watched a lot of different recap/reviews/analysis on YouTube because I can't get enough lol. But the majority consensus about this particular part is when Cap went back to see Peggy and stay he created a branched timeline. After living his life, and assuming Peggy passed away, he came back to his original timeline. Not right there but a bit earlier. Supposedly this has been confirmed by the Russo bro's. This is the most plausible explanation with how time travel is supposed to work in the film.

I think I'm just going to leave this one alone lol. I was perfectly fine with the ending and everything so I'm not going to overthink it and just go with it.

Steve Rogers could have gone to the Tony Stark in that timeline and got him to create a new time travel device. He certainly had plenty of pim particles and since he was going to time travel he probably got well versed on what was needed for the process, just in case he needed to adjust on the fly.

This is a comic book movie after all and time travel is a very comic booky trope.

Personally, im curious about what the encounter with Red Skull was like for Steve when he returned the soul stone.

I'm pretty sure Steve didn't have to return the Soul Stone because it wasn't "taken" from anywhere and didn't create an alternate timeline.

There is not a scene, only an audio thing. It does not foreshadow a future movie

Stay for the main headlining credits portion, though. The thing they do for the OG six Avengers I thought was really cool and classy.

We saw it last night finally. I'm not really sure what to think. It was a good movie with some really great parts throughout, but holy **** the pacing was terrible. The first half of the movie dragged with all the melodramatic stuff. I understand the importance those scenes served (especially when there's some weird scenes not included), but I always feel like they try to cram the EMOTIONS and FEELINGS into the Avengers movies rather than seeding and developing it in the solo films. Since you can't really follow up IW's snap with a line of solo films I understand why they had to plug in everybody's emotional journeys in, but it really made the movie feel long.

Aside from that I left just feeling, for lack of a better word, indifferent. There's all this buildup, teasing out, and hype, but by the end it all felt anti-climatic. IDK.
