    The beatles weren't that great
Wutang clan sucked except for ghostface and method man
Cam'ron and Dipset just suck period
Gunit is terrible(although there are alot of people who agree on that one)
There's more but I can't think of them all right now.

80's Wave Music is not overrated which many people think. It was great music and to this day people still play the songs from bands like: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Anything Box, etc...

Sorry to say this, but I couldn't stand Kurt Cobain and what he stood for, so that affected me by not listening to them.

        First - great topic!

Second - I want to echo ActLikeYouKnow's point. We laugh about the hair bands and how overtly sexual they were, but - meanwhile, listen to Led Zepplin, AC/DC, even the Rolling Stones.

Third - let's see - I agree with JMood about the Beatles. I mean - I understand their significance, but, listening to them is often like when you go to an art museum and try to figure out why some classic artist's work, on display, is so great.

Fourth - sometimes I would rather listen to some current cheeseball pop song that I might have heard at a party or when I hung out with a hot girl - then listen to "quality" music like Radiohead or some other artistically-acceptable band.

Fifth - I still listen to certain songs from that past that I liked for non-musical reasons, like Hooters "And We Danced" and Big Country "In a Big Country". From a musical standpoint, I can't tell you why I like these songs, but I listen to them all the time.

I agree about Elvis. he ripped of jazz and gave no credit whatsoever to the music that paved the way for him.

Just another white guy getting rich of black music.

Not only that, but his solo work (like "Oh Sherry" and "Suzanne") is extremely under-rated.

Although - to be fair - if you ever saw MTV's "25 Lame," they have a classic segment where they cut on a Journey video where the whole band is wearing acid washed jeans, with big hair, and playing air guitars.

Still though - Steve Perry was the man.....

Here's another one (sorry to keep monopolizing the thread - but this is a classic topic):

I know all of the words (and every note for that matter) to more songs from this group of bands:

                    -Poison
                    -Def Leppard
                    -Van Halen

                    than this group of bands:

                    -The Beatles
                    -The Rolling Stones
                    -The Who

The best is - I can't even tell you why I know so many Poison, Def Leppard and Van Halen songs, because I've never really liked their music (well - I do like Van Halen). I have just heard them over and over - and, even today, I can sing along to every word and every note of many of their songs. It's uncanny.....

One last one - I promise I'll stop....

I can name 10 Led Zepplin songs (maybe 15) that I prefer over the "ultimate classic": "Stairway to Heaven".

                      "Black Dog"
                      "Houses of the Holy"
"Over the Hills and Far Away"
                      "D'yer Maker"
Do I even need to continue?

                        1. Radiohead is one of the most overrated bands in the history of rock n roll.

                        2. Foo Fighters > Nirvana

But what true Zeppelin fan can't? Hell, I'd be hard-pressed to even put it in a top fifty. Hell, you even named big-name singles. Give me stuff like "In My Time of Dying," "No Quarter," "Tangerine," "Your Time Is Gonna Come," "Since I've Been Loving You," or "Celebration Day" over ANY of their hits.
