I'm pleasently surprised that anyone here even knows who Sly and the Family Stone IS. Also check out Graham Central Station, featuring Sly bassist Larry Graham.

I also agree that Elvis is overrated. So is Nirvana and Punk music in general.

Hip Hop hit it's creative peak between 1988 and 1992. And I fear it's never going back.

Despite his enormous downfall, Michael Jackson is still the best Pop artist ever.

Ice Cube said it best recently, "Parliament-Funkadelic is still ahead of it's time." If it weren't for P-Funk, there'd be no Prince, no Dre, no Snoop. And the ensuing domino effect without all them would've completely changed music as we currently know it, and for the worse. They're not in the RnR Hall of Fame for nothing.

Jay was and still is 100% correct when he said, "Who's the best MC? Biggie Jay-Z and Nas".

112 is the best RnB group out.

Royce Da 5'9" has the potential to be top 5 dead or alive.

Ja Rule, Justin Timberlake and Sisqo make good music.

      Ray J > Brandy.

Mobb Deep is the greatest group that noone talks about (check their catalouge).

College Dropout is a 5 mic classic (this will be popular opinion in ten years).

Even though noone still buys his music and he fell off after like his second album, you can't have hip-hop without Snoop Dogg.

G-Unit is unpopular simply because its cool to hate them.

Common is popular simply because its cool to like him.

Nas is the greatest of all time.
This is ridiculous, but I agree with EVERY single one of those

Hey, did you check the post I made about my iTunes library? Elton is right there in the middle of it, so, there's no shame in it from my point of view.

I've always enjoyed them. Never anywhere near "favorite band" status, but definitely worthy of my time every once in a while. I used to be HUGE into Hybrid Theory (great, great album) but not so much on the remix album and Meteora.

I think I can safely claim to be the only person on this board that still listens to and likes selected songs by Limp Bizkit (mostly songs that aren't singles and definitely songs that aren't just about how good Limp is, which eliminates about 50% of their songs). I dunno, I first heard of em in 6th grade ("Faith" cover) and they've stuck with me. No one likes Limp Bizkit anymore though. Eh.

I agree with you about Joss Stone but I just can't get into her singing. I recognize the pipes she's got but to me it sounds like she's trying TOO hard to impress with vocal tricks. I'm hoping that she finds a groove that can be easily accessible to a large audience without sacrificing what she has now.

That leads me to Mariah Carey. The girl has a great voice. Just listen to her older stuff and you'll see she was and is quite the singer. She has kinda sold out tho with her more pop/hip hop flavourings but at times she can belt out a good tune. Just listen to her latest tune "We Belong Together" with an open mind and you can see she's still got a darn good voice. I also like the song too which is a bit shocking.

Indie/Emo/Punk isn't bad music as some people tend to say. Such bands as Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory give it a band name, because there are other bands out there that play good music and it's just up to the listener to determine whether or not it's "emotional" or not.
