Metal heads are too sensitive to genre and subgenre labels.

Also agree on the hip hop stuff. Its easy to bash and walk away from it when you don't even try to understand its context or artistic integrity.

Personally, I laugh at people who say "Band X sucks!". I don't like Widespread Panic, but they certainly don't suck. I just don't like their music.


Hell not even Nickelback sucks. People just don't like their music. I have a hard time telling someone that wrote the lyrics and played the instruments themselves that their music sucks.

There is very little rap that is like that at all but if the only exposure I got to it was the **** on the radio and tv, then I would hate it too.

I know but unfortunately people who do not listen to rap/hip hop somehow get the perception that is what is mostly spoken about when in reality that is rarely spoken about in songs.

And I think lil Wayne, with a couple exceptions, absolutely sucks! Dude spends four minutes talking about absolutely nothing.

Bashing rap is unacceptable but bashing the Beatles is just fine, right?

I'll take Rubber Soul over anything that contains either "bow wow wow yippie yo yippie yay" or "yo, so check it" as part of the lyrics any day.

So would I. Good thing I don't listen to any rap songs that have lyrics like that. Also, it's one thing to not like a group, it's a completely different thing to bash an entire genre while having an extremely limited point of reference.

It's a good thing not ALL Rap music sounds like that you've repeatedly stated on here so many times.

If you wanna bash it, then go right ahead. Everyone by now understands that it's not for everybody. Just don't be ignorant and assume that ALL Rap music talks about is "Pimpin' ****, smokin' weed, and yo baby, yo baby yo!!!" when that's not even remotely true.

Autotune instantly makes anything absolutely terrible and shows who is a hack. I think educated listeners realize this, but I'm suck of everyone my age (college age) only liking garbage like Kesha.

Also, I feel Lil Wayne and the Black Eyed Peas, along with Kesha, are the worst things to have happened to music in years and are horrifically bad hacks.
