There's a difference between someone like Cobain singing about the pains of addiction and some rapper talking about smoking weed, banging hoes and "poppin caps". Add to the fact that alot of the songs are just retatrded (laffy taffy anyone?) and rap is just easily the worst genre of music out there. Not to mention most rappers are fake anyways, for every black rapper dissing Vanillia Ice and the such, they might want to take a look in the mirror (50 Cent, Eminem, Ja Rule just to name a few).

The epitome of your ignorance is shown best in the three artists you list there to represent hip-hop. You know absolutely nothing about hip-hop, so please stop bashing it because you're making yourself look like an idiot and everything that comes out of your mouth is fasle.

I don't go around bashing rock, country (well, I kinda do, hehe) or the blues because I don't know enough about it, similar to what JMood said.

Pretty much, if you listen to the radio or tv trying to get a fell for a certain type of music 9 times out of 10 your going to the hear the worse from the genre.

Got to dig deeper then music channels and commercial radio songs to find the good stuff.

Half of the bands listed in the top 5 albums of the year I have never even heard of...why? because the only time I catch any type of rock is what I see on tv or hear on the radio.


Its not very surprising to me who is bashing hip hop in here though, just based on pasts posts.

Every genre has it's mainstream representatives, and 50 Cent and Eminem, for better or worse, are probably two of the biggest rap artists out there now and are probably decent representatives of mainstream rap. Everybody who doesn't like rap hasn't heard the underground stuff you enjoy, just like people who don't like rock usually only base that opinion off of the stuff they hear on the radio.

I just think it is a little much to expect people to do their homework into a genre before making a decision on whether or not they like the genre. If you don't like the rap you hear on the radio how can you expect people to look into it further? Just like if someone isn't a rock fan based on hearing Nickleback, I can't blame them for not looking deeper into the genre.

Yes, people are ignorant, but you can only expect people to make judgements on the stuff that is being fed to them through the radio and TV. Granted, coming on here and tearing apart the genre is much mroe ignorant than most, but most people who don't like rap probably share a lot of the same views as that guy.
