Re: Your opinions in Music that many would disagree with
+1
They were just the original boy band and appealed to a teeny bopper crowd because they were young, good looking and anti-war.
That is because the only stuff you have heard is out of Nashville.
Nashville country is like me saying I listened to Soulja Boy and hate rap because of it now. Most artist write only a portion of their songs just so they have some name credit. It's turned into pop music with a country accent singing it. Most songs from there don't even use a fiddle or steel guitar, which is a staple of real country music.
Bieber has talent. May be annoying, but he can sing and dance. I don't see how what he does is anything that is wrong with music. He doesn't lip sync and plays music that appeals to a target crowd.
Read above for country music.
She actually got her start by songwriting and writes most of what she sings. She makes music with a catchy beat that get played at dance clubs.
I was reading her wikipedia, this made me LOLOriginally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Curtis Mayfield > Marvin Gaye, Al Green, etc.
3 Feet High and Rising is the 2nd best hip-hop album of all time after only Illmatic and as good lyrically as any album ever made."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Nas, AZ, Kool G Rap, >>> Tupac
Notorious BIG and Tupac are overrated only because they were murdered in their primes.
Wale, Lupe, J. Cole, > Wiz Khalifa
Eminem > Jay-Z
It Was Written > Reasonable Doubt
Tupac would have sold out had he not been murdered.

Everyone seems to like rap, hip hop and all that stuff. I can't stand it. I tried to listen to it and it does not appeal to me at all.
I hate when people say "how can you not like that?" I just shake my head, because music is completely subjective and all about what YOU like. Not about what others like.
I do listen to what most label "screamo" although I hate calling it that. The music is much deeper than the screaming itself and a lot of the bands I listen to have a positive message, I'm not a fan of the KILL EVERYONE KILL KILL KILL type bands. Screaming is just another form of expression just like singing is. Not to mention the instrumentation of some of these bands is incredible.
That said, there is nothing wrong with any form of music. It's all personal preference. Right and wrong does not exist.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

I very much so disagree w/ this. Forgetting all the illuminati stuff Tupac was against, he was a big believer and practicer of "stay true to your crew". Tupac never showed any mannerisms or said anything even to make people think that. I thinkg Biggie would have sold out before Pac.
I can somewhat agree w/ the Eminem/Jay-Z statement. Especially when Em is on top of his game

Re: Your opinions in Music that many would disagree with
But Saying he would have sold out is the stupidest thing I could ever hear. Could Tupac gain any more recognition by selling out? He is the greatest selling rapper of all time. He's sold over 100 million records. He was at the top of the game without selling out. He IS/WAS mainstream. Where I live, the stations that play all the new pop music that everybody hates, will play Tupac every once in a while.
What about the fact that Tupac was trying to get out of rap? That = would have sold out?
Tupac is the only mainstream rapper who has truly deserved all the recognition he has every received. Saying he would have sold out shows me that you don't know Tupac as a person. He was not just a rapper. He wanted to get into politics, he is one of the most influential men our country has seen in decades. Your statement of him selling just shows ignorance about Tupac as a person. He wasn't defined by his rapping skills, his plan was so much more than being a rapper. Research him. Rap was a stepping stone.
Tupac thought he "sold out" when he went to Death Row because he didn't like the music he was doing there. He didn't want to make that Thug Life, Gangster rap like music. His music before Death Row was a reflection of who he was. He didn't like his time there at all, he only agreed to do albums for them because Suge bailed him out of jail. He did his albums, and wanted out. He wanted out of the limelight of being a thug. He didn't want to be the face of the gangster rap that defined the West Coast.
California Love was number 1 on the charts and still gets play from the pop stations today. And it's West Coast, G Funk music, and hip hop in it's realest form. He needed to sell out? A number 1 song that is getting radio time 16 years later, and he was going to sell out? Why would he need to sell out when everybody was playing his **** more than anybody else? And California Love doesn't get plays today because he's dead, it's a great song.
Me Against The World? Number 1 on the charts. 2x Platinum.
All Eyes on Me? Number 1 on the charts. 9x Platinum.
Both before his death. Why would he sell out exactly?
Of course The 7th Day Theory was number 1 on the charts, you could argue his death helped his sales but that album would have been number 1 regardless.
So he has two different albums in the same year that take the number 1 spot on the charts, including another single that was number 1, and he needed to sell out? I'm not even touching the fact he wanted to get out of rap.
You don't have to love him or even like him, but if you can't respect what he did then don't call yourself a hip hop fan. Or if you want to degrade him, at least learn a thing or two about him before he take shots. An already number 1 seller who wanted to get out of rap = was going to sell out? No.
There's 1 thing though. We all know Tupac has a lot of messages in his song. Illuminati, is he really alive, 7 day theory, etc. That is a big reason why he is still very popular today. And that stuff only blew up more when he actually died. BUT, that doesn't mean he is great because he died. All of those things he put into his music shows he had a plan, and he followed it. He knew he was going to die, he cried on his 21st birthday because he didn't think he would make it that far. He wanted to be remembered though, that's why there is so much clues in his music that keep people listening.
But that reason doesn't mean was great because he died. Only great artists could put those messages in songs the way he did. He was on his own level. How do we determine success so often? Sales. And this kid found a way to make his music even more popular when he died than it was when he was alive. That doesn't mean that his death made him. He was at the top of rap, when rap was at it's best. The Reason his music got more importance or value adds to the argument that he was great.
The only reason his music continued to gain popularity after he died is because of what HE put in his music BEFORE he died. He was on his own level.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 01-30-2011, 05:01 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

You took the words out of my mouth and added more, lol.
I hate when people toss around the term "selling out".
@NoDoak, at least you can say you just don't like hip-hop and leave it at that. Other people feel the need to misjudge it and take shots at it.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Music in video games was better back in the 16 and 8-bit eras than it is today. Unless today's games have some sort of stellar orchestral score, they don't really stand out to me as much.
Yes I know that was kind of a random music related opinion.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Music past the N64 age definitely isn't as good. Part of the reason games like Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 6, and Super Mario RPG are in my all time favorite lists are because of absurdly **** music throughout.Comment
