October 31, 2005 - A financial update from publisher Take-Two today confirms what many gamers feared: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will not reach Xbox 360 and PC gamers this year.

According to the announcement, which offers lowered guidance for fiscal 2005 and 2006, Oblivion has been moved from the company's first quarter, which ends in January, to its second quarter -- February through April 2006.

For Q1 2006, the company now expects to post $300 to $350 million in net sales -- numbers which reflect the delay of Bethesda's ambitious RPG sequel.

So far, neither Take-Two nor Bethesda have offered reasons for pushing back Oblivion, though given the game's scope, many expected the title may not reach stores in time for holiday shopping.

We'll be back as we learn more.

That's not really a true release date. Most companies give out the "quarter" of their release dates.

I just finally decided to take a look at those vids. Is getting a erection from a video game a bad thing?

          Take Two?

Obviously, the game was delayed while they removed all the "Hot Mead" code.

Wow... and this game you can play in 3rd person as well, right? Also, this game isn't like a Final Fantasy type game is it? Where you just push a button and tell them to attack, or whatever, right?

The graphics are just awesome on this title.

Yes, you can play in third person as well as first and it is you controlling the fighting unlike FF. (though I hated how it was excecuted in Morrowind, I read somewhere that they completely revamped the fighting controls) Wow, can't wait for this one, I have a feeling all my friends aren't gonna leave me alone once I get it until they have gotten an hour or more on it.

Thanks Vinny... Is it multiplayer? This sounds like something that could totally take up a lot of time.

No, no multiplayer I am aware of. Though the sheer size and depth of the game should give you over 100 hours easily, if you get into it and if its anything like its predecessors (I know some people who absolutely hate morrowind and for that reason I would suggest renting it before buying [or of course trying the marketplace demo if available])

I have a question that maybe someone like Flawless could answer...I have a friend who insits the whole map is randomly generated each time you start a new character. I have heard about randomly generated dungeons, but never of the entire world being generated. Anyone know?

Randomly Generated? Does that mean that everyone else will experience something different?

Your friend's wrong. The only part of Oblivion that is randomly generated is the actual plane of Oblivion itself, not the outside world (Cyrodiil)
