Yeah, it is BS... If you call and talk to a supervisor though, they'll send you a free first party game for your inconvenience... so maybe that'll help some

It helped my pain. And I wasn't expecting anything. I was just trying to call and tell them that I wanted a new console, and not someone else's troubles.

        Re: Official 360 Problems

I was on the phone explaining to MS and the woman didn't listen to a word I said. She starts telling me about flashing red lights and I'm telling her that is not my problem. She asked me if she can put me on "the" hold......and then when she comes back she tells me I need service and refuses to answer any questions. When I asked for a supervisor she hung up on me.

UPDATE: I called back and spoke to another...what can only be described as..MORON...he starts telling me that some game have more graphics than others and it can take the machine longer to turn on..when I start telling him it has nothing to do with it...he hangs up on me...and without a ticket number being created there is no way to track these calls. I am this close to saying f it and taking up bike riding or something...

I can't find too much information on this..so I have to ask...the system taking 7-8 seconds to power on after the button is pushed is not normal correct?

Well... I don't know if it took mine 7-8 seconds, but it did take quite a while for me to get it powered up. I know sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds, or even numerous pushes of the buttons.

Where do you have your 360 setup, do you have it in an open area.

It should take the same exact amount of time to boot up every time you hit the button. I think it takes maybe 3-4 seconds max from the time you push the power button to when the ring of light cycles through the little green segments and the logo is displayed on screen.

WTF- numerous presses of the button to boot up? That's not normal, either, man. I hope you aren't just chalking that up to minor inconvenience.

Oh, no way SportsorDeath... not chalking it up to minor inconvenience. That's actually one of the reasons I sent it back in. I just hope my next one is better...

Ahhh, that's right, my bad. For some reason, I thought you had already gotten your replacement back for a sec.

I just called to send mine in. I also requested a new console. The person I spoke to said it is MS policy that they will repair first, then replace. I go on to tell them that it is widely known that MS has been issuing refurbs and not returning the repaired unit. He asks how do I know? I explain that some people have HDDs with different gamer tags. He said this is due to the technicians logging on with a gamer tag to repair it. He said MS does not issue refurbs. They either repair your existing unit or issue a new one. That's what he said. Nevertheless, he would not guarantee a new unit. Were you able to get the supervisor to authorize a new unit?

It's fairly open and I have the power brick on a piece of wood and above the carpet.

I was reading the post above about the repair people logging in with their gamertags and couldn't help but think what a load of poop. If they were just logging in then why would people have a machine come back with only one foreign gamer tag? It makes no sense like the MS rep trying to tell me that a games graphics causes delays in turning the machine on. For the price we pay for these machines and games it would be nice if MS hired halfway smart service reps.

Thanks for everyone's input and help. I returned it today to Comp USA for a refund and will need to find a new one. I was feeling pretty close to saying the heck with MS but every big company these days has messed up stuff...so if I like the hobby and I like the games, I will just get a new one (hopefully) and the extended warranty.

Received my box today, and shipped the system out a couple hours later. I'll keep everyone updated on how long the turnaround is. I'm hoping I have it back by next Wednesday. Fight Night 3 is sitting here unopened.

Quint, I know I'm not Sully, but I have received EXCELLENT service from MS.

Well above what I was expecting. Less than a week to get a brand spankin new system back...

How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
