If the big thing that puts ps3 over the Xbox is blu-ray technology, and they charge 200 dollars more, I'll pass. Unless blue-rays are going to compeltely replace DVDs within the next year and a half to two years, it's not that important to me.

Originally posted by APOCYeah, I see what your saying. I agree, I don't think right off the bat blu-ray is gonna be a hit. It may take 2-3 years before the average consumer embraces it. Then again, it may not. It seems like every year now some type off revolutionary technology is being invented. I guess in a few years we'll find out what was worth our money.
That's all I'm saying. Charging extra money for something that wont be fully-usable for a year or two isn't smart.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I will be waiting on the PS3 as well. Many games are multi-platform now. It's the big exclusives like Halo, Metal Gear Solid, etc. that set the systems apart. How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.Comment

I personally feel that both Blu Ray and HD DVD will both fail...but if one wins it'll be HD DVD because the average consumer can afford it and actually understands what HD means.Comment

Don't get me wrong, the 360 is somewhat impressive, but not worth the money they are charging for it right now. Not by a long shot. I think too many people bought into the hype too early and now there are regrets. I'm not saying everybody has regrets, but I do know people who wish they would have waited. And after reading OS'ers problems with the system, rushing out to get one is not appealing to me. I absolutely love my Xbox though. So no. I'm not a MS *****.
I think the PS3 will be pricy, yes, but for all the great technology inside it will be money well spent. I just wish Sony would start some pre-launch advertising before E3. And no, this wasn't to start a Sony/MS war as this topic was being discussed in previous posts.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Feature wise, they may be different. But in terms of power, performance, etc. I think the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be very similar. They haven't even begun to tap into the technology of the Xbox 360. Remember the PS2 launch titles? The Bouncer? X Squad? Madden 2001?How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
I don't see the PS3 being anymore than $500.
Sony has stated that they are taking a billion dollar loss on the launch of the PS3, and if they are taking a billion dollar loss on a $800 console, then it must be one hell of a machine.
My guess is $500 for the PS3. And I don't mind paying $500 for a next gen system.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If the PS3 launches for $800.00 and it has major kinks like the 360 does, then they totally ruined next-gen launches and didn't take advantage of the power the Xbox and possibly PS2 still had.Comment

Re: IGN says PS3 might break you
Bah more speculation, these guys are never right. Wasn't right for PS2, PSP, or X360. C'mon now, we'll have info in a month, no point in posting anymore articles that give no solid information.
EDIT: Oh and btw, maybe some diehard Sony fans will buy a PS3 for $800, but there are alot of casual gamers that just lean towards Playstation. IF they find out it's $800, they are going to explore X360.
Why in God's name do you think PS3 will be more than $500??? Pleeeeeease, get your head out of your ***. It's not going to have a top of the line Blu-Ray player.Last edited by Ice Cream Truck; 01-29-2006, 11:58 AM.Xbox 360 GamertagRAW 910
